<p>What does one need to do in order to be offered a guaranteed transfer for Cornell University?</p>
<p>Do we have to apply NOW, as seniors? And then if we're rejected, they might offer us this option?</p>
<p>Or can we apply once we are freshmen at a certain college...?</p>

<p>First off, only the contract colleges (CALS, HumEc, and ILR) offer guaranteed transfer options. Secondly, only people who apply as high school seniors can get it if I’m not mistaken. You have to maintain a certain GPA at another school for one year (3.0 I think) in order for the condition to stick.</p>
<p>What Islander said is right! Only high school seniors can get offered it and it must be taken after the student has completed their freshman year of college with at least a 3.0 average. You can’t apply to get a GT, you can only get offered it in the event that the college runs out of spots, but still wants you to attend.</p>
<p>^Is this also offered to applicants who don’t exactly have strong stats (GPA, SAT) for Cornell, but who…in other areas (ECs, essays, etc…) are strong candidates?</p>
<p>that’s probably at least one of the scenarios in which GT is used, since part of the point of GT is giving you an opportunity to demonstrate ability/motivation for one additional year before coming to Cornell.</p>
<p>Is it possible to get GT as an OOS? Since the contract colleges do have quotas.</p>
<p>Just fwiw, two kids who got GT’s at my HS (out of state btw).</p>
<p>1) top 30% HS class, but 2300+ SAT
2) top 30% HS class, 2000~ SAT, but double legacy (both parents went to Cornell)</p>
<p>I think the only OOS GT I know is a legacy, don’t know about SATs.</p>
