sorry, I am sure it doesn’t make so much of a difference…just something I thought everyone did. So I asked my GC if I should.
anyone at all apply to NS??? is it a mostly female major? is that good for a male applying? or bad?
Did anyone else send subject tests? I did bio, world, and ush for Healthcare Policy.
I did not send any
Does anyone know the estimated acceptance rate for Cornell Human Ecology?
No idea
I think it’s around 18 or 19%??? Here’s a link I found
http://irp.dpb.cornell.edu/university-factbook/undergraduate-admissions
I think this includes numbers for ED and RD
What about ed only? Is it higher for less applied to majors?
ED, hopefully, should be relatively higher! I wish December 12 would come faster.
i think its closer to 30%
would love to know total applicants for each major
Same… any word on PAM? I heard that it is one of the hardest majors for applicants.
I keep hearing PAM is difficult but I haven’t seen any stats.
It’s going to be a long week.
It is highly inappropriate for an alumnus interviewer to comment on your likely acceptance or even to communicate with you between the interview and the decision date. They are explicitly told not to make any kind of recommendation in the write-up and if they do it is ignored. The interview is meant to provide you with a personal interaction to help you: 1) have and questions answered, 2) give you a direct way to communicate anything that has happened since you filed the application and 3) prove that you’re not a 35-year old person catfishing your application (kidding/not kidding). I have conducted Cornell interviews for 20 years and have found no correlation between my feedback and eventual admissions decisions. Also, there is no reason for an alumnus to take your resume and nothing at all they can do with it as part of the admissions process.
Any interviewer who does those thing is doing it to feel important, not to supplement the process in any way.
Thanks so much for that insight. Do you know if each of the colleges regard the alumni interview in the same way?
The entire alumni interview is confusing. I believe that it can lead to false hopes, especially with a great contact meeting. Any student who is told that there will be a write up and it will be part of your admissions file would believe that someone in admissions will actually look at the write up. I don’t think it will be a make or break for unqualified candidates…but maybe as a final confirmation, or extra boost.
The GC at my school recommended bringing a resume to each “interview”.
I guess an alumni would accept the resume out of politeness or as a way to not insult the student or make them feel uncomfortable?
Did you guys end up sending Q1 grades? I saw on MeetEzra that ED applicants for HumEc should send in their first Q grades as soon as they’re available
Yes my GC sends automatically for all ED and EA schools unless you request not to.
I cannot be any more anxious
me too! so nervous about tomorrow. keep running through every scenario.
