@lisaol what are her career interests?
initially,she wanted to study law. Now she wants to do music business.
Thats interesting! What is exactly music business?
@lisaol do you recall your daughter’s stats (gpa/test scores) or range and perhaps what led her to apply to PAM? I have a child looking to apply there or the business school. Just curious what kind of outside activities your daughter might have done (no, this is not to change what my son is doing)…just curious the type of applicant. Thank you for any information
@Scorpion2000 she is a pam major and she has a business minor. She loves music but Cornell doesn’t offer a music business major or minor. She wants to run a music company one day. After graduation, she will get a JD/MBA. Many students in PAM go to law school or business school or go work on wall street as analysts after graduation.
@lisaol Sounds very interesting! Good luck to her. Does she want to get a combined JD/MBA degree? Or either or? Is she getting that from Cornell? Is that a special track she joined? Do you know what kind of analysts? Do PAM majors go into IB as analysts or Management consulating as analysts. Sorry for so many questions!!! I appreaciate any information. I am just eager to explore it all:)
@scorpion2000 I’m sorry. I don’t know.
How many PAM major does cornell accept per year? I saw 30, 80, but not sure what the number is?
In 2015, they had 26 PAM freshmen and 3 transfers enroll. I don’ t now how many they accepted.That is what they told us at orientation.
So little, so it may be hard to get accepted from ED…Lets say 30, then they will probably accept 10 ED applicants, wow, scary…
@DennisYHi
When I was looking on HE website and the survey showing post grad stats of PAMs, there are about 55 grafuating each year. I assume about 55 enroll each year. Also during HE info session we were told ED students make about 30 percent of all students, therefore anout 18 enroll. There are more accepted of course. Yes the # is small but its a small program, which gives me hope! Also very nervous:(
For ED, accepted = enrolled, so ED only has 18 around. That seems awfully small number of slots.
Do they accept by college of Human Ecology for ED? Or by each major?
@DennisYHi I was wondering that myself. Unfortunately, can’t figure it out.
That makes some difference. But their essay asked for why this college, not why this major.
@DennisYHi Really? I interpreted that it asked for both: «how will your choice of major impact your goals and plans for the future” That was the 2nd part. What do you think?
You can declare as “undecided” in College of Human Ecology. So, the “major” part seems less important? DO: Articulate a connection to the college’s mission and programs when answering the academic interest question on the Cornell Supplement, whether you have a specific major in mind or are applying as “Undecided” within the College of Human Ecology . Why is our program right for you? What kindled this academic interest? How will a Human Ecology education help you achieve your academic and career goals?
PAM major from NY
Hello!! Did anyone receive an email about a phone call with an alum? It seems really close to the decision release date for an interview.
@newyorkjulia They have until tonight to complete interviews . My daughter had an interview last week and another alum called her last night.
