Cornell Human Ecology, Wake Forest Chances

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone could comment on my chances for Cornell Human Ecology and Wake Forest (both RD). For Cornell I am wondering mainly whether my EC’s fit the Global Health Studies major in the College of Human Ecology. I was recently admitted to U of Michigan, and Wake Forest’s admit rate seems to be about the same so I remain optimistic… again, any help is much appreciated!

ACT: 34 (35 supscore)
GPA: 3.77 UW/ 4.2 W
Rank: 17/251 (top 6%)
770 Bio, 700 US History (may not send the USH one)
Awards: Rotary Senior, Homecoming King (idk if this would help or not), AP Scholar with Distinction, minor photography awards

EC’s:
VP of National Honor Society (consumes my life), Class Treasurer, Principal’s Leadership Council, Founder of Bio Club, United Way YFDC committee, Ohio Attorney General Teen Ambassador Board, Varsity XC & Track (captain), famers market cashier, hospital volunteer, pianist at local nursing homes and rehab centers, executive committee for dance marathon (benefits nonprofit), aviation and travel photography. Travelled to China one summer (took classes in Mandarin and culture), spent another summer with school on trip to western United States national parks.
Rec Letters: Haven’t read them
State: OH (white male), lower (ish) income

Thanks for any help, and I can/will chance back.

Nice work. Your ECs look good. Could you explain more about your trip to China? Was this something you paid for or was it paid by someone else?

I also was wondering how you are going to link this to global health studies?

@sgopal2 Thanks! The trip was paid for by someone else (university), and it involved taking classes in Mandarin while in China. This is the part that I am struggling with–trying to use the Cornell essay to link my EC’s with the major to show fit.

That will look really nice (trip paid by Univ). There is a growing trend to scorn kids who do drive by charity work when their wealthy parents pay for it.

If you can find a convincing way to link the EC experience and your prospective major then I think you’ll be in great shape.
