ILR only offer interviews to transfer applicants?
I applied as a freshman and interview was offered to me...hope I did not screw up my app

really, where do u live? I live in San Diego and I still have not gotten an interview…

Chen9021: Were you offered an information session with a Cornell alumnus, or were you offered a formal interview with ILR as a transfer student? The person contacting you would have told you. It’s probably the first.

MattLeinartFan: Not everyone will receive an information session with an alumnus. With 36,000 applicants, even in areas where there are a lot of alumni, it’s just impossible to get to every applicant. It won’t be held against you. Being contacted or not being contacted has nothing to do with your chances for acceptance. It has to do with the sheer volume of applicants in your area against the number of alumni who volunteer their time.

im in northeast tx.

he is a part of caaan, it is an informal meeting at his office…and that is all i know, he did not indicate whether i am a freshman applicant.

What you’re getting is an alumni meeting, something that has been discussed on this board multiple times. The alum will write a brief writeup of the meeting, but it’s more for you to get information about Cornell. Not everyone gets one and they are based strictly on availability in your area, not the strength of your application. This is not an interview with ILR admissions (the alum may not even be from ILR) and will not be the “deciding factor” behind your decision. You are most likely down as a Freshman applicant, but you can always go to Common App and reread what you sent to Cornell if you are unsure or have reason to think you checked the wrong box somewhere.
