Cornell or UWashington?

Hey guys,

I've currently enrolled at University of Washington, but am waiting for waiting list results from Cornell. If I happen to get into Cornell, I wouldn't know what to choose. UW or Cornell?

My planned major is computer and electrical engineering (ECE at Cornell, CSE at Washington) and cost of education doesn't make a difference. Any help?

I live on the west coast by the way, and I've never been out east.

My main argument for Cornell is that it provides a stronger education (top 10) and stronger network for job seeking, while my argument for Washington is that I'm more familiar with the surroundings and feel its a "closer fit," while providing a solid education (top 25) in my field.

The fact that money isn't a factor makes the decision a little bit easier, in my view.

I would argue that the fact that Cornell is a less familiar environment is also an argument in the school's favor. College is a time to push your comfort mold a little bit and explore new places and people.

Cornell will also probably offer stronger resources and opportunities per student, if you take advantage of them.

If money is not a factor, definitely go for Cornell if you get off the waitlist. They have a better reputation in your major and overall, and more resources per student. Good luck!
