How many of you actually utilized the primary / secondary college option? I did. I applied to the CAS (Gov.) as my primary college and ILR as my secondary college. Hoowever, I actually have a genuine interest in both Government and ILR. What bothers me, though, is that some people apply to a second school merely to improve their chances of being admitted. I know that is not always the case and that some students apply to 2 colleges that offer the same major, such as Biology. However, I feel as if it is a lowly thing to do to just apply to a second school in hopes of eventually transferring out, as I have observed is the case with quite a few Cornell applicants.

So, if you did utilize the primary / secondary college option, what were your choices of colleges and choices of majors?

And for those of you who only applied to one college, feel free to share your choices of college and major as well.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone's interested in studying! :)

i chose not to do the primary/secondary option…I applied to CALS, and i want to major in animal science :)

I chose to use the primary/secondary option as well
partially because I couldn’t decide between the two

I did CAS - economics
and CALS - AEM

I chose the primary/secondary option also. Actually, my secondary option was the college of engineering, however, it was initially what i’d wanted to go to first, and what got me interested in Cornell, however, last minute, i decided to apply to CAS just because I know that despite my love of physics, I’d also want to take classes across the board and that there was a small chance I might want to change my major… so I ended up applying for:

CAS - Physics / Economics
CoE - Engineering Physics

I’ve been admitted to CAS and hope to be successful in a Physics major with maybe a minor concentration on Econ, or possibly a double major? depending on how things go… however, there’s also the possibility that I might apply to transfer into CoE if it turns out that I really want to be an engineer. o_o When I was applying, I was confused, and even now… I’m still wondering. I hope I’ll get my mind straightened out after some time there =]
