If I didn’t get a call and was deferred…is that looking really bad for me?
If I didn’t get a call and was deferred…is that looking really bad for me?
@zzbooboo1 I got a 1540 on my SAT and 800 on Math 2. My extracurricular definitely helped me, even though my scores aren’t insane. (Coca Cola Scholar and National awards). And I did not receive a likely letter. A likely letter is different from a guaranteed acceptance email.
Just checked on financial aid status and the To Do list is asking for a student and parent W2. I double checked the CSS Profile uploads and they were uploaded and received on Jan 4. Then I noticed the due date for these documents is 2/15/2021. Is this a good sign? Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
@Luckyjade2024 I wouldn’t say it’s a bad thing… although it may also not be a good thing either. As long as you wrote a strong loci your application should be stronger than before. Good luck!
Also @zzbooboo1 — I did not get an interview from Cornell. I think what helped the most were my essays and extracurriculars. I had diverse activities in STEM, music, and service, but was really focused with them. Quality over quantity (always).
I wrote a LOCI, a strong update on accomplishments a month later, additional LOR from my Dean of students, and strong AP grades. Hopefully that is enough.
I had a great interview in the early round. He reached out and told me he was surprised I was deferred. Thought i was a great fit. Will his original write up help?
@Nanosour that sounds like a good thing!
I see everyone talking about interviews, by that do you guys mean the Cornell alumni admissions ambassadors? I had an informative interview with a CAAAN back in February.
Did decisions for Cornell come out already??
They come out March 26th at 7 pm Eastern
yes
The alumni basically told me that while the interview is important, in his words “it’s just to make sure oh he’s still alive”. I don’t know how right that is lol, but I know for sure it wasn’t about having a good or bad interview, just having one.
Does Cornell naturally accept more students from private schools? I go to a public school where 0-1 students every year get accepted into Cornell every year. Does that put me at a disadvantage?
@zzbooboo1 if you are a good student, you may be even slightly advantaged at a public schools because they want diversity. my dad went to tufts for example and he said it was roughly 50-50 from public and private schools. if you are more like an average student, going to private may give you an advantage, but not necessarily if you are a stellar student. i honestly don’t think it’s a big deal.
anybody know if 4-H will help you get into Cornell since it’s a land grant university? that’s one of my largest extra cirriculars.
Less than 24 hours!
We got this!
I have started a thread for Ivy Day decisions (no stats)…
9 hours! Good luck to all!!
anyone else’s app page completely blank now?
