Thank you @biearbe
Congrats @biearbe
@momver Thanks and no problem !
Hey all, current Cornell Freshman here in the College of Human Ecology. Good luck to everyone tomorrow! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions before then. Also, yes HumEc gives out phone calls which is basically a likely letter. I got one around February last year.
Good luck everyone!
@Bishoptoaster if you don’t get a call, does that mean you will not get accepted?
@Meko No, it just means you’re considered within the rest of the applicant pool. Only those who get a call are 100% likely to get accepted.
@Bishoptoaster okay…I’m still hopeful. Just curious…did you also do an interview with an alum?
@Meko I did not do an interview with an alum. Don’t worry too much! Most people who end up getting in don’t get a call. Good luck.
supposedly cornell interviews are informational only
@ChemEboyNY 7pm EDT I meant. My bad.
I received an email back in Feb from Cornell ambassador, my HS alumni, asking if I would be interested in meeting and discussing Cornell’s programs and any questions I might have and she mentioned it was not part of admissions. I was busy with a school project at that time so turned it down. Wonder if that would have any consequence ;-(
@ChemEboyNY “ambassadors” is what cornell calls its interviewers. from cornell website:
“We offer that type of engagement with our alumni ambassadors. While they’re known as applicant contact meetings instead of ‘interviews,’ our 12,000 Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network (CAAAN) volunteers meet with more than 23,000 applicants each year.”
they all say its not part of admissions, yet my “ambassador” said he would be writing a report to send back to cornell. i got a likely letter a few weeks ago.
for you, will depend on what, if anything, she sent back.
@binlee thanks for the clarification. There goes my hope
@trevormac I dont want to bother you but bc you got the likely letter I was curious if you had any like, unique research or publishings, or if you think your essays were really great
just trying to see what they’re looking for, and I’m super anxious myself. thank you
Serious question. Can anyone access the CUWebLogin financial aid site and log in? I can’t. I get this error message when i try to log in:
"Access Denied (403)
The website ess.adminapps.cornell.edu is unable to accept your credentials. You may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. If you continue to have problems please contact the website administrator"
I’m really concerned.
@ChemEboyNY not necessarily, she probably just did not send a report back.
https://finaid.cornell.edu/check-application-status <— Use this. The “ApplicantID” is not the one you use on the applicant portal. It’s different, in form XXXXX-YYYYYY.
@binlee It worked! Thank you so much
Hi!
I didn’t do any research or publishing, and my essays were pretty average. I talked about how my trips to Europe gave me a broader world perception and I talked about the opportunities I would take advantage of at Cornell in the supplement. I had a handful of extra curricular: President of SNHS, member of NHS, board member of NAHS, Veteran volunteer, Hospital Volunteer, Part time employee and member in Best Buddies.
I come from a lower income family which may have gave me a push and I am also Native American so…Not sure if that played a factor.
Overall, I think it might have just been a fit. Im sure you’ll be fine if you gave a good application.
Best of Luck!
