Cornell RD Class of 2025

Are there other pre orientation programs besides outdoor Odyssey?

Yes, here is the website that they’re usually posted, so I would look for them in the next week.
Pre-Orientation Programs - First-Year, Fall 2023 - New Students.

Here’s another link of some programs Pre-Orientation Service Trips (POST) – Einhorn Center for Community Engagement

My daughter did one through Hillel which was fantastic and just one night https://www.cornellhillel.org/prospectiveandadmittedstudents

There’s also some other faith based trips as well but I do believe they all show up on that first link I sent you but the key is the move in early thing. Made a huge difference and we had unlimited time to get her in and out and could park right there unlike later when we went back a few days after.

My D just completed her enrollment response form and submitted down payment. How soon will she get her Net ID? She hasn’t gotten one yet. She’d like to register for housing. Thanks!

I think the netid is fairly quick. However, there’s no hurry for housing as it’s all random anyway (you just answer some preference questions) and they don’t find out their assignments until sometime in June at the earliest.

Ok thank you !

how often do appeals usually work?

I just received it this morning! Thank you so much. I’m committing tonight! Best of luck. GO BIG RED!!

I got mine the next morning. It’s fairly quick. Your username is also your @cornell.edu email, use gmail to sign into it and create a username.

Ok thx!

Did I say create a username? Lol I meant password I’m so sorry!!!

5 days until commitment deadline and still nothing from Cornell FA. I received my FA awards from every school I was accepted to long ago. All except Cornell.

And I know I’m not alone.

I expect to get no financial aid, but I’d be lying if I said this doesn’t make me wonder whether I screwed up committing to Cornell. I had other amazing choices. Cornell was always my first choice though.

Where else are they going to be so far behind the curve like they are in FA?

Puzzling and infuriating.

My son is in the same boat, although he hasn’t committed yet. He will make his decision tomorrow night at 6pm, Cornell will be eliminated if they haven’t provided the financials by then. While Cornell was originally his first choice, their inability to even commit to a firm date for the FA has had a very negative impact on his overall impression of the school.

And, like you, he wonders what other administrative issues he will face if he were to commit to Cornell.

If it helps, we haven’t had any administrative issues.

Their VP of Student Life, Ryan Lombardy is amazing! Sends out emails regularly communicating what is going on with covid, etc. That didn’t happen much pre-covid but they are keeping families abreast of what is going on which is not typical.

Cornell is also very good at helping parents/students cut the cord. Something I didn’t realize until now when I am getting spammed by the school my son is attending. I don’t need to be sent every email he is being sent. It’s his responsibility to sign up for certain things, etc. Cornell is not a handholder of parents hands thank god.

My daughter loves it! But you are definitely not alone in the FA issues. It is being discussed on the parent page as well.

Is Cornell sending out the RD acceptance packages or not? Still no package in the mail.

What are you looking to get? All I remember my daughter receiving is a letter and maybe some stickers. That was 2 years ago.

They also later send a coupon for committed students to get a class of xxxx shirt.

A big folder thing with acceptance letter and stuff? Got from other schools. So guess Cornell does not send anymore.

Oh she applied ED so not sure what they normally send out for RD. I should’ve put i that disclaimer, sorry.

Many schools seemed to have dropped the ball with some of that stuff this year or just send it out really late.

My son was still getting some of it from schools he had already declined his acceptance to. Including emails.

What ended up happening with this?

When do we get our Cornell ID number? Not the NetID, but the 7-digit number

As of 4/30 9:47am, still no FA information from Cornell and no commitment as to when it will be sent.
