ok let’s do a lil survey
1st wave- like
2nd wave- sick emoji
3rd wave- frozen emoji
The wave analogy does not make sense. Data updation follows the order in which the data in the database is sorted. This order, in all large databases, will be usually determined alphabetically, or by some ID, which in this case is most likely APP-XXXXX. It is highly unlikely that the data is sorted by admission status. One with a decent knowledge of computer systems and databases would know that you would simply never want your primary key to be anything other than a serial number or ID. My speculation is- one: the data update was administered at the same time but the changes were reflected at different times due to geographical differences, two: the update was administered one by one for all applicants based on their APP-XXXXX, which is most likely the key sorting the data.
I had a likely and my checklist disappeared around 30mins ago in the 1st wave, its probably by location or school guys dont look into it too much, cornell’s application system isn’t as flawed as nyu
What do y’all mean by wave? How do I know which wave I am
how come some people can find themselves when they search while others cant? most likely not getting in and I can find myself
Its starting to look like theres no correlation between the checklist and admissions decision. Too many question marks and not enough answers.
under the upload items button, which items do you guys have? (i feel like my items changed but i cant remember)
does it allow anyone to change their password on the FA portal. someone on reddit says it says “We are sorry, access is not allowed because you are not enrolled”
I highly, highly doubt that the waves are related to admissions decisions. Let’s just try to relax for another 8 and a half hours.
Respectfully, someone brings this point up each time there is portal speculation, yet, the portal things have turned out to correspond with decisions for 5 of my schools so far.
Yeah and Cornell is probably aware of that mistake and avoiding it… also because of what you said with NYU having more than one wave for a particular result, we don’t know how many waves there are even if they were an indicator.
@jt5335 I’ve had multiple schools where seemingly significant changes in the portal (like being able to make an admitted student profile) were inaccurate for my decision. Yeah it’s right for some, but we’re all just talking about anecdotal experiences. I think it’s more reasonable to assume they didn’t massively mess up and reveal their admissions early than to assume they did.
Also is there any way we can turn off slow mode? Really hard to have meaningful discussion with a ten-minute delay
this would mean nothing because no RD applicant has enrolled at Cornell yet, accepted or denied
i can change my password on FA portal
Like if you can change password in your FA portal. React with emoji if you can’t
Do you mean the ability to access the change password page or to actually change it?
why would that order be the case. it could be 1st =acceptance
By the way, I think he means the link that you can access from the main menu in the financial aid status portal. Not simply the button that says forgot your password.
Which link?
Rip for me it says “We’re sorry, access is not allowed because you are not enrolled. Please contact your organization’s IT help desk for assistance.” when I try to access Main Menu → Change My Password in FA Portal.
Likely letters:
Can you change your password?
Emoji if you can, like if you can’t
