Does anyone know when the Cornell Presidential Research Scholars and Meinig Family Cornell National Scholars for the Class of 2009 will be notified? Has anyone heard yet?

I don't know, but I do know your chances of it are exceptionally small. Its like a 1 in 300 chance...

Not sure if this will help any, but Engineering's McMullen Dean's scholars were notified a few days after admission with the financial aid package and a separate letter. I would assume notification for those would be included with the financial aid package as well.

whoa....slow down here....how were we suppoed to apply to those? lol....i probably missed an entire section of my app, lol

Nah...the admissions committee offers the scholarships to anyone they think are eligible; by applying to the school, you, in essence, also applied for these scholarships.

Are there any other scholarships that we can apply to through the school.. my financial aid sucked.

All of the new Commitment Freshman (Tradition, Meinig, and Presidential Research Scholars) are notified in May.

how do u know if you got the award? i dono whats going on

Are any of these scholarships not based on need? In other words, could you get one if you're paying your tuition?

If you are offered a Commitment scholarship you will get a letter by mailed.

Whether or not you received a scholarship is not based on need but how much you will receive if you are chosen is. If you pay your tution in full you get a 600 dollar book award. There are other perks besides the money that depend on which scholarship you are given. Your chances aren't that great, all 3 scholarships only pick approx. 50 new freshman each year. You can apply as a sophmore to Tradition and Meinig (starting this yr) if you don't get the awards as a freshman.

What exactly is the criteria for choosing Cornell scholars for freshman?

I wasn't picked as a CPRS as a freshman but my research professor nominated me for it as a sophomore (your only other chance to apply for CPRS is to get nominated by a professor you're doing research with by the second semester of your sophomore year). Only 10 max sophomores are chosen though.

Do they notify you before the reply deadline?
