Cornell School of Hotel Administration RD Thread

just thought someone should make one of these. does anyone know when decisions come out? I’ve heard early March. feel free to put chances or anything in this thread

litlhoward2468 I have heard early march as well. are you doing the interview?

I’m not doing an interview but it says off-campus interviews are available from late September through late March. How would a late March interview factor into admission if decisions come out early March?

Obviously not very well…

Based on what I have read through CC, most applicants to SHA RD are notified of their decision in early March. Do you guys know if SHA sends likely letters?

I would like an honest opinion. I feel as if I would fit in very well at the School of Hotel Administration. However, I am not too sure if they would feel as if I fit in too well. My work experience is extensive. I have worked anywhere from 25-45 hours per week since the age of 14 in order to help support my family. The issue with this in terms of admission to Cornell is that it’s not hotel experience. I mean regardless, I have put my all into the application and demonstrated how much I have come to like these jobs despite the fact that I had to do this when I was younger and had to do this as a means of survival. Do you think they would penalize me for not having hotel experience?

@YesPolyglotGal , with admissions, it could really go either way. Hopefully, you explained your scenario well in your essays.

@MrIvyLeague Let’s hope it goes well. I most certainly explained this in my essays and was passionate about it. I hope it was correct to not be apologetic about a GPA that’s on the low side. I mean I felt I would be boring and too focused on the past if I had done so. My GPA is quite low, at 3.14 (UW). So this may be an additional barrier.

anyone else applying RD to hotel?

@litlhoward2468 Yes! I am applying RD. Fingers crossed for some good news this admissions cycle!

My D has applied RD. She decided not to do the interview because we’re OOS.

I am lithoward very nervous/anxious/excited

@redbluegreen19 same here. i was deferred ed so i feel like i have been waiting forever, if you don’t mind me asking what are your stats/ecs/work experience etc

I applied RD.

When do you guys think they will release decisions?

I’m guessing end of February / start of March. The Ivy league agreement states that SHA gets their admissions decisions earlier than other Ivy schools.

@starbuckslove i don’t want to sound stupid but what is the ivy league agreement lol, can we find it online?

@starbuckslove nvm i just googled it and found what you were talking about
