Cornell Sports

Athletes- how do they handle all thier traveling and the Cornell workload?
I want to know if anybody has any information because i was considering if i wanted to compete athletically at Cornell
I am concerned i won't be able to handle it if i join or if im missing out on a great opportunity.

I'm not an athlete, but I know a few people that are on a varsity team. It's a lot of work. . .but most seem to do ok with it.

You should limit yourself to 4 classes (most people start out with 4 anyway, and possibly work up to 5 for second semester), and just try to manage your time.

Your workload varies greatly by your major. . . .what are you planning in majoring in?

Yeah, most of the athletes in the bigtime sports arent in extremely difficult majors. The other question is of course, what sport will you be playing?

How is the load for tennis players?

Cornell has a tennis team?

Oh, and where's middle of nowhere, FL? Sounds like it might be close to where I live....

Im in ilr but thinking of transferring to aem i plan to play soccer, basketball, track& field

I'm thinking of majoring in Engineering Physics, and I also want to play Basketball for the university - what do you think?

college sports you usually have time to only play 1 sport

Are there tryouts for every sport? I was thinking about maybe playing golf and I should have a legit chance after I work on my game during the summer.

I'd say so.. as far as I know there are tryouts at pretty much every university program. i'm planning on being a wall-on because it is practically impossible for me to get recruited from Australia :)

seems everyone has the same questions. could someone please find out from student-athletes u may know how they handle thier sport and college and what program(s) a majority of them are in.

yeah im planning on Majoring in Bio Engineering and Pre Med and hopefully playing Lacrosse..that should be fun >.<

Anyone interested in playing a varsity sport should contact the coach quickly. The coach can also answer the question of academic/sport balance. Most sports have already lined up recruits.

The Lacrosse program is very competitive.

http://cornellbigred.collegesports.com/sports/m-lacros/corn-m-lacros-body.html

Cornell just announced their new team members for the upcoming 2006 season. There are 16 recruits. Three of them are transfers and the other 13 have very impressive high school records. At least two of them did a PG year.

Cornell has not announced its recruits for the class of 2010 -- but I do know that there are several High School All Americans in the group, from schools with very competitive lacrosse programs.

The Big Red is ranked 6th in D1 preseason polls, with several pre season All American players.

For cornell's I think 2 top sports: men's hockey is invite only (if they see you play on the club team that's another story), but I'm pretty sure you can walk on for wrestling.

i know lax is competative...i've got connections: coach is cornell hockey and lacrosse graduate so i'll get some looks if anything. I think hes talked to the coach about me already ...maybe >.<

my nieghbour..we have conjoining rooms in dickson walked on the wrestling team...he's eng udecided, im engineering physics and am on the squash team...

do alot of people play intramurals? like basketball?

pickup gamesr happen at the gym on north campus ALL the time. there was also an open tournament this past semester.
