Cornell Summer College - Is it good?

For this summer (I am a sophomore) I wanted to go to SSP (summer science program, not the harvard one), but I have yet to hear from them.

In case I do not get in, I was thinking of going to the Cornell Summer College program. Has anyone done this program? Is it fun? Is it worth doing for 6 weeks?

And I ask the same questions for the Harvard Summer College program

Dont just pick by the name.

It's fun and the classes are good. I don't know what more you could really ask.

with the workload n all..was there enough time to have fun and party ?

there better be enough time to have fun thats where im going this summer for 3 weeks

anyone heard of the RABS program at cornell over the summer? i got in there and havent decided to go or not...there are a few other biology research programs in considering...

yea same.. i might even go for the 6 week program.. but only if i can manage to get a scholarship.
but yea, we'll definately need to party

I just got into the CALS program. I'm kind of wondering how hard it is to get in...like I know about 600 people are chosen, but how many people actually apply?

I dont think cornell summer college is that hard to get into. My friend did it last summer and hes not very smart and he said it was really fun. My other friends sister did it like 3 years ago and she partied and stuff while she was there. I got rejected from the hotel management program but got into the psych program.

oh, yay!
so we're allowed to apply to more than one program?

Well you apply to one, but you write down a second choice so if you don't get into your first choice, you might get into your second choice. That's what happened to me.

i just read the cornell summer college website.. and they seem to be quite strict about their rules... the curfew is 11 on weekdays and 12 on weekends.. and we're prohibited from frat houses.. how did your sister find ways to party with restrictions like that? =S i mean i'm not like a party animal or an alcoholic but it'd be nice to go to college parties while im there.

There are no college parties during the summer, except for occasionally at frats. Honestly, I don't know how you really expect to "party" in a freshman dorm in some town you've never been to, but whatever. I'm generally someone who goes out every single night I don't have school the next day during the school year, but I don't know what you really expect at summer college. I don't think it would be much different anywhere else, unless they got rid of the curfew. The work's not too bad though.

yea, i wasn't really expecting to be partying every night cuz that would lead me to fail all the courses... but i was hoping to go to at least one or two.. to see what the social life is like.. i guess i was just expecting too much cuz when i mentioned to my friends that i was going to summer college.. their first reactions were, "omg you're going to party so much".. but then they're just my friends.. and they probably dont know much about summer college cuz they've never been. do you go to cornell or have you been to its summer college?

i never said my friends sister partied every night... i really dont know any of the details about how much, where or how she partied. i just know she did at some point. junaeatworld-- every summer program will say they keep strict rules... my best friend did some pre college program at berkely last summer and they had basically the same rules but she managed to drink and smoke a lot and never got in trouble. lots of parents wont send their kids to a program that doesnt claim to have strict rules.

haha,, i never said that you said your sister partied every night.. but yea you're right, they need to set these rules. i should just stop worrying and get my applications in. =)
