I just received a letter in the mail saying that I was named a Cornell Tradition Fellow for the class of 2021. I was just wondering if anyone else received this or knows anything about the program. Thanks for any response in advance!

Benefits
Tradition fellows are members of a select group, representing just 4 percent of the Cornell undergraduate population. Fellows come to know that their time at Cornell is a journey.
As a Tradition Fellow, you have the opportunity to take advantage of some of the following benefits:
Service Support Account
All Cornell Tradition Fellows have access to up to $3,500 over their undergraduate Cornell career to cover the cost of service-related activities, such as summer break internships, Pre-Orientation Service Trips, Alternative Breaks trips, service-learning trips, and other educational experiential activities approved by the program.
Fellowship Awards
Depending on demonstrated financial need, Fellows can receive a fellowship award of up to $4,000 per year to replace need-based student loans. Fellowships are often funded by Tradition alumni whose experience with the program impacted them so significantly that they endowed fellowships to ensure that future Fellows have similar opportunities. Fellows who receive a named fellowship often have an opportunity to meet with their donors, which can result in ongoing relationships.
Employment Support
Fellows are eligible for a wage subsidy for the academic year to help them find or keep a position either on campus or through Cornell-affiliated off-campus programs. Fellows who receive work-study monies can receive the Tradition wage subsidy once their work-study funds are depleted. Fellows who do not receive work-study monies can receive the subsidy as soon as they secure work. Tradition wage subsidies are available to Fellows throughout their time at Cornell.
My son is a tradition fellow and has received fellowship funds in the form of a named scholarship
@CALSmom Thank you for the information! Does your son struggle at all to meet the 250 hours of work/ service for the program along with his workload?
@2021college2017 I apologize but I got it wrong. My son isn’t a TF but just a recipient of a named scholarship. He was offered work study but turned it down. Congrats to you and hope it’s works out! I’d research more about it on CU site and even call someone from the program with questions. Maybe they could put you in touch with a current TF. Good luck!
