Cornell Transfers - I have a question

So my application is still under review for CAS. I was wondering if it might be appropriate to have the head of my department call the CAS directly and talk to them about me. The head of my English dept. loves me and would do it in a heart beat --- however, is this a strict no-no ? I know some HS people have their counselers call so this is why I am asking.

I am maybe hoping this might give me a smidgen of chance - however, I doubt it.

It seems desperate to me. I don't know the official protocol for college admissons but I wouldn't bother the admissions office with extraneous material unless they request it. It may actually have a bad impact.

Ohhh, a fellow Cornell English major applying? Arrr, scurvy to ye, knave!

Good luck :P
