****Cornell University Class of 2021 Regular Decision Thread****

Also if I want to contact the admissions office to let them know something about my application, do I email “admissions@cornell.edu” or “engr_admissions@cornell.edu” (I applied engineering)?

hey. I sent in my cornell application about five days ago, but i am still yet to receive my applicant ID. should i be worried

i sent in my cornell application about five days ago and am still yet to get an applicant ID. should i be worried

@Fejiro No need to worry. They are backlogged and do catch up eventually.

My DS applied on 2nd and he got the email with portal ID on 4th. Only Common App and SAT / ACT scores are show as received. May be supplement, recommendations and transcripts take time to get updated. Does anyone know how long before we it gets updated. We don’t want to bother the admissions people unless its a concern. Good Luck to All

i got 2150 on the SAT. Am i disadvantaged in the applicant pool

@AllenTx15 It took approximately 3 weeks for my son.

@just_nag Thanks. Hopefully it gets updated before month end.
@Fejiro If your rest of the app is strong, then you still have chance. People with perfect scores get rejected all the time. So there is no guarantee for anyone until the admission decisions are out. So don’t worry hope for the best.

Still haven’t received any details about the portal. Any news?

I too haven’t received any details about the portal… Has everyone received it?

My son has gotten portal info applicant Id & activation code. It was about a week ago. It did not work at first though. But now it is working. You might trying calling Admissions. if it does not come through in a few more days.

Hi friends! Joining this thread, as I have been deffered from Brown and Cornell is my next choice. Just got my interview email, hopefully all goes well!

Haven’t got any notification via email about an interview… Anybody know if everybody gets an interview or only prospective candidates

So conducting an interview with CAAAN would not affect your admission decision whatsoever? What I’ve heard so far is that interviewing with CAAAN does not factor into one’s admission decision since they are unable to reach out to every single applicant to Cornell.

Am I the only person who Cornell STILL “hasn’t received their writing supplement”?

Does is add a positive factor to the application or is it completely useless? @BLISHnr

@kendizzle You applied to the architecture or hotel school, right? I thought applicants to other schools in Cornell aren’t offered an interview.

@tod4sl0sd1as nope I applied to the College of Arts and Sciences

May I ask when you submitted you application @kendizzle ?

From the Cornell’s website:

“What can we offer to those applicants interested in an interview? Well, we have nearly 11,000 alumni in the Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network (CAAAN) who meet with more than 21,000 applicants each year. CAAAN contacts are not interviews. Instead, they are optional, informal conversations that allow students to ask questions, become acquainted with another perspective on the university, and provide additional information. The contact process is completely automated; applicants cannot request or otherwise initiate an alumni contact. Each applicant is assigned to a local committee after Cornell receives the application and fee. If the applicant’s local committee has active members, the chairperson of that committee attempts to match the applicant with an available volunteer. If a match occurs, the volunteer then contacts the applicant to arrange a meeting.”

"Here are some key tidbits about CAAAN contacts:

contacts are informational, not evaluative – take advantage of the opportunity if contacted, but no need to be nervous
CAAAN members submit informational reports if there is new information to add to the application
contacts are completely initiated by alumni – students cannot arrange a meeting
we reach about 50-60% of applicants because of limitations caused by geography, timing, presence of alumni, and applicant volume
students’ applications will not be negatively impacted if they are not contacted"
