****Cornell University Class of 2021 Regular Decision Thread****

@elise303 email, i dont know if its through the portal or not (i assume it is, though). though some people can get likely letters, but thats probably a rarity

@USPanther

I want to know if that worked out for you because I want to switch the college I’m applying to and from what I understand I’m not allowed to do that at all? Even if they didn’t view it yet?

Does anyone know any email address for sending teacher rec letters? I am getting them from my old school.

@johnlimster My resume used to be 3.5 pages but I cut it to 1.5. A resume is supposed to be 1-2 pages, even for professionals who are applying for a job and have 10+ years of education and work experiences. In the future, I really think you should try to cut down because idk if they’ll appreciate that length, although I wouldn’t worry about it since it’s just a supplementary piece of info.

Guys, I submitted my application 2 days ago, and I was just reading it again this morning and I realized I made a typo in my essay…ya. And that was after spending hours refining and editing, and then reading it over and over again 1000 times. I don’t even know how it slipped by me. This is the sentence I typed, where I omitted a word:

“My ultimate goal is for my research to be the real-world in phasing out fossil fuels”

instead of

“My ultimate goal is for my research to be IN the real-world in phasing out fossil fuels”

How bad do you think this is? When you read the first sentence, did it stick out a lot? I know there’s little I can do now, but I just wanted to hear from other people.

@CheckMate123 I think it’s alright. It may slip by. I didn’t even notice the mistake until I saw the correction.

Don’t worry. I made a similar mistake on mine, and I’m sure many others have as well. They’re hardly going to scrutinize every essay, right?

@imessedup2 i did not end up trying to switch

My application portal says that it hasnt received school reports, recommendations, etc. same problem with anyone?

I haven’t even gotten the email for the portal yet. How long after you submit does it typically take?

i have the same problem. Only the common app is marked as received on my portal and the rest are blank including my supplement which I know I sent.

@CheckMate123 @triggeredsenior - For my son, it took a while (several weeks) for some of the items to be marked as received. The portal will be updated in due course. No need to panic.

Everything on mine says " initiated " . I submitted my app in November and got an email 3 or 4 days later l, I believe.

i’m so nervous aaa !! the portal needs to updat

So this is a crazy question, but can one submit an arts supplement for CALS? I could have sworn he saw in on the portal today, but now he cannot find it - also with CALS it would not make sense so I am assuming the answer is no. But I swear I thought I saw it this morning. So what is the answer - yes to an arts supplement or no?

Hi! Could someone chance me for CALS (applied to food science) based on scores/gpa?
2150 SAT 680 CR 780 M 690 W
SAT 2 Chem: 800, SAT 2 Math 2: 800
AP World: 5, AP Lit: 5, AP Chem: 4, AP US Hist.: 4
All together 9 AP classes by end of senior year (took all I could)

This isn’t a chance thread. @KaleSeed make a chance thread and I will be happy to chance you :))))

Oh! I’m a newbie (: Thanks for the advice, will do! One sec…

Here is my chance thread @DryMango

Out of all the schools I’ve applied to, Cornell’s the only one that’s so slow with application materials. All my other schools have gotten my entire application and test scores, yet cornell somehow doesn’t have my test scores even though I sent all of them out on the same day
