No, Cornell moved away from an evaluative alumni interview years ago. With applications surging, Cornell didn’t have enough alumni volunteers to meet the need for interviews.
So, now the alumni meeting is strictly informational only. There is no longer any report that is submitted, just a yes/no if the meeting was held.
DD applied ED and included self reported SATs on the common app - did not send from College Board since specifically not required until acceptance. The Cornell portal has been updated with the materials received and green checks. But no mention of test scores. It it supposed to show the scores were self reported for consideration? Can’t remember if portal had a spot for submitting scores - nothing there now. Thank you.
My daughter self-reported her ACT score and I don’t see it in her portal either. I also don’t see her first quarter grades, which her guidance counselor recently submitted. I’m not sure if these additions won’t appear in the portal?
Per Cornell:
The Dyson School is anchored in the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, but still maintains a foothold in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Students in the Dyson School will have academic opportunities within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and New York State Residents will pay [in-state tuition]
It sounds like the interviews are based on availability of alumni in your area. If you live in an area with lots of alumni you might get one quickly but in an area with few alumni offering interviews it might take longer. We live in a more populated area and my daughter received the invite quickly but the interviewer made it clear that she would simply be checking a box that said my daughter was present for the interview and nothing more than that. Does not seem to have any impact or be an indication at all.
That surprises me because my daughter applied into CHE and had one. Although it was called a “conversation” and she was told that it was non-evaluative so perhaps they are making a distinction between that and a traditional interview.
