Cornell University Fall 2020 Transfer

I honestly only applied to Cornell because is the only school I liked. HBU

Lol same @Newyorkkidd

I applied to Fordham and got in now I’m waiting on Cornell and Colgate

I only applied to Cornell. If I don’t get in, I’ll be okay at my current institution. It’s still a top liberal arts college. I just believe that Cornell is better for me in MANYYY ways and has academic resources that I need.

my stats are not that great so this school is a reach but have faith guys, especially times like this.

someone told me this yesterday that it is VERY VERY important to consider the financial part of transferring especially this year. getting a loan right now is awful and having to pay it back is a nightmare.

keep going guys!

I also applied to Fordham, GWU, NYU and Barnard. I wish someone told me how difficult applying to schools would be without a college counselor lol

Any ILR applicants?

I’m Applying as a Junior to the ILR School. Only applying to Cornell.

@DrewGonz19 why you applied to Toothpaste University HAHAH

Colgate has a really good financial aid plus they’re top 50 nationally according to some websites so I said why not, but Cornell’s my #1. @Thaifood what are your stats?

Go to a top 75 school and a poliscience and pre-law major (many law classes and the course freedom are the major reasons for transferring)

GPA: 3.93 (3.9 for midterm report)
Extra Curric: Law Society that invites judges and attorneys for talks
Community Service and Environmental club

Hispanic if it matters lol

I was in law society too and I’m Hispanic I hope that works in our favor somehow

Current Institution: top 3 university in Korea
GPA: 4.23 (but I’ve taken 76 credits as I am finishing my second semester of third year :/)
SAT: 2,320 / 2400 (i took the last 2400 sat! lol)
High school GPA: my school didn’t have “GPA” (Australia) and just shows the scores. They were around 97%+

I am currently a Technology Management major and my essay was about how I wanted to be a “fuzzy” and a “techie” at the same time (really interested in natural language processing and data science)

Extra-Curricular in uni :
Academia for Data Science (i am the president)
Cooking Club ( I am the president)
Student Council (I was the president)
Scuba Diving club (i lik 2 swim)

Intern:
Data Analyst at Hackers
School Digital TA
School Research Assistant
CEO of my company ( i pay myself lol)

Awards:
Published a paper about VR cafes (with the company who made PUBG)
IHEII Scholarship $2500 for my company
VentureOut Scholarship $5000 for my company
Nexon award first place $10000
[my awards are mostly about social innovation]

Personally, I think my essays are ‘meh’ which may be a problem

I’m curious though

**1. Are 76 credits too much to be considered as an applicant?

@llinrs I feel pretty good about my application. I know that they really like to see hospitality industry experience and I have about a year of solid experience. My grades are also good, but I don’t know if they will value kids from CC as much as they will a four year. In terms of getting in, honestly, I’m iffy about it. I thought that I would get into Carnegie Mellon but I was denied from there, so I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.

Remember the admissions committee is not looking for someone who looks perfect in every subject, they are looking for a well-rounded class each admitted student is unique. I am 100% sure they don’t want to see essays that repeat what you have done that is why the activities section is for. Good luck everyone y’all got this.

hey guys! I’ve been kinda nervous about the midterm report. I emailed admissions a few days ago and they haven’t gotten back to me. My school is offering extended pass/fail and I am taking one class in this format. What are your thoughts on taking this class pass/fail considering the pandemic? Will this reflect negatively in my apps? And for anyone else taking a class in this format, how do you report this in your mid-term report? Should my professor just submit a “P”? Thanks guys! Hope you’re all doing well.

Admissions is doing a horrible job at responding to emails. I’ve sent two and am still waiting for any response back

@JakeLax If you have the grades and the experience, it doesn’t matter if you’re a CC student. Stay confident about your app, honestly, with these schools we just never know how the admissions process is. Stay confident! We might get in!

I’m 27, hispanic and had a 5 year gap in my education since I dropped out of college to work full time to help my family.
I’ve been in CC since spring 2019 and will graduate on May 7th. My current GPA is 3.53/4.0 without including my current spring courses.
PTK member and a Math Tutor/Math Teaching Assistant at my college.
Have worked full-time as a flight attendant for 6 years now and have total 10 yrs in the hospitality industry as I worked in restaurants before my airline job. My letters of rec came from my economics professor, my calculus professor, and the VP of the airline I work for.

I’ve also applied to Yale, Columbia, Brown, Vanderbilt and UVA.

@keepthatsmile I applied to UMich with a ‘Passing’ on my bio class for mid term report. No questions/concerns asked and accepted. Submitted to Cornell the same way, I am sure theyre accommodating under the circumstances.

@keepthatsmile @blueki That is weird that they are not answering your emails, are you sure you’re emailing to the right email? Also, I asked admissions at Cornell about the P/F option happening at my current institution as well and they said "Submissions that indicate P/F are sufficient for your Mid-term Report.
