Hi. I'm a student from India looking to major in Physics and then go for Grad school. I've been offered admission in these three colleges and I'm completely confused about which I should attend. Most of what I know comes from reputation and a couple of friends who have been to these colleges. So I don't really know enough to make a decision. Could someone give me any information that could help?

Also I have not been offered any financial aid in either of these universities so that is also a major consideration in the college I would ultimately choose.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you cannot pay for the school, you will not get your student visa. It is OK to choose the least expensive one. Take into account all expenses - travel, books, a full winter wardrobe for Cornell, etc. You can get into excellent graduate schools from any of these universities.

I would go with UT. It’s the least expensive, the physics department is outstanding, and I’ve heard great things about the Dean’s Scholars program.

Also, I’ve been wait-listed at U chicago. Now, I’ve heard that the Physics program at Chicago is brilliant. If I get accepted there, does it make a difference?

If you have the money for Chicago (and the winters there are colder than the winters at Cornell), it may be the best program of all of these. However, the question that you have to answer is just exactly how much you can afford. If Texas is the least expensive, and you are in the scholars program, it probably is your best option.
