Cornell Vet School

I will be starting my Freshman year of High School next week and my dream job is to be a Veterinarian. How can I get into Cornell School of Vet Medicine? I have always had straight A's in school and I do a lot of extracurricular activities, but mostly community service and environmental groups because aside from animals those are my passions. Does Cornell have a summer Vet program for High School students? Also, is it true you can apply to Cornell Vet Med your Sophomore year of College?

First there is the obvious-near perfect grades or better, high boards, xtra currics. They probably have that 7 yr option that a lot of schools are doing now. To build up the vitae i would advise becoming involved with part-time xtras like working at a vet office or kennel or pet store, or participating with one of the animal welfare organizations-there are quite a few of them. Also getting involved with state agricultural fairs in some way to provide information on livestock, or becoming a dog trainer on the side.

Thanks for all the tips! They are really helpful! Also, do you know if you can specialize for what kind of vet you want to become during vetinary school?
