ive got into UCB, UCLA, Hopkins and Cornell.
and.. i narrowed my choices down to Hopkins and Cornell and now i can't decide which one i should go to.. (btw im gonna go to medical school)
for JHU, im gonna major in biomolecular engineering or biochem
and Cornell, i got in as a biochem major?

any suggestions or advices pleaaase?? (con's and pro's?)

and one more question.. how good is biochem in terms prep-ing for med school and MCAT?

There's really no difference for premed b/w the two schools outside of the fact Hopkins screens out applicants it deems to be weak while Cornell provides recommendation letters for all of its applicants.

As for major, it doesn't matter. English majors outperform bio majors on the MCAT.

The academics at both schools are top notch. Cornell offers a more well-rounded undergraduate experience, and there are less pre-meds as a percentage of the entire student body, so it will be a less suffocating and cut-throat environment.

More on biology opportunities at Cornell here:

The only way I would go to to Hopkins over Cornell is if you received a full-ride to play lacrosse at Hopkins. So I would go to Cornell, but I'm obviously biased.

Seriously. I'd be willing to live in Baltimore for the med school (which is second to none except maybe Harvard). But the undergrad offers nothing that any other top college wouldn't offer. I'm not a huge Ithaca fan or anything but I'd rather live in Ithaca than Baltimore.

If you're deciding just based on your major,as good as Cornell's engineering is, JHU's biomedical is even more respected.

That's not the only factor to consider. The the feel of the 2 campuses and the people are very different. If you visit both, you'll know which one feels right for you.

I agree - visit both keeping mind you'll be at each for 4 years.
