which one of these should i pick for premed?
neither gave me any significant scholarships or financial aid packages.
hopkins costs 43k/year and cornell costs me 39k/year.
UVA only costs me 5k/year though since they gave me significant aid.

this is really important, i only have a few hours left to decide… i visited the campuses and none of them really stood out at me. cornell students were the most active though.

from a strictly premed point: JHU is too freaking hard (they are fairly selective about who they write LORs for). UVA is not as good as cornell in the life sciences. Cornell (like Hopkins) will offer u tons of research and the med committee will write u a LOR if u choose to apply to med school (although being pre med at cornell will be no easy thing either).

from a money point of view: unless ur heart is really set on JHU or cornell, go to UVA. That said, are u personally going to have to take loans? Are ur parents going to really struggle sending u to cornell or JHU? I think u need to tell us these two things before we can give u more advice.

bottles33: I agree with jerseyindian…go to UVA. Do you really want to get out of JHU or Cornell with tons of debt or no money left for med school? The choice seems obvious to me. I really don’t think the huge difference in price would be that worth it to chose either JHU or Cornell.

even worse would be enrolling in cornell or JHU and ending up dropping pre med. But u’ll still pay 160K. The 20K u’ll pay at UVA will give u more freedom. You will not be on edge for every single test (wont be constantly worrying about the “holy **** im not gonna be a doctor and i’ll have gone to this school for nothing feeling”)

hmm, that does seem like the logical option at this point. i am leaning towards UVA but i was just curious if the cornell students had any other opinions.

quick question: will ur parents be paying for JHU or cornell (if u pick one of those two) from savings or will they be taking loans?

isn’t the post office closed already? how are you even going to get your decision in on time? :/

UVA is the logical choice. If all the schools were the same price, I would definitely choose Cornell. It is a great school w/an international reputation. But UVA is a great school. With an excellent GPA and MCAT, you will get into a fine medical school.
