“Sometimes the critical reasoning abilities of our fellow Cornellians astonish me, norcalguy.”

cayuga,

that’s not very nice to say. did you watch those two games? did you see how no one could really guard wittman and how jeff foote could guard anyone? like i said, there is a such thing as a quality loss. ask the sec why they will have a handful of teams in the tournament because they kept it close against kentucky…

I think this year’s team has a much better chance at winning a tourney game than previous years’ teams. In other words, much better potential.

But, in terms of actual wins and losses, I don’t think there was much justification. They barely beat St. Johns and lost to Seaton Hall (two bottom tier Big East teams). They got beat by Syracuse by around 15 points. They received a ton of coverage for almost beating Kansas on the road. I’m glad they got some airtime but I don’t think they are a top 25 team and I don’t think they deserved to be in the top 25. They had beaten 0 impressive teams and their only impressive game was a loss to Kansas.

norcal, every team has questionable games. duke lost handily to nc state, a bottom acc team, and doesn’t really have any quality road wins. whoever wins the title this year will have games that they can point to and say ‘what happened there?’

i was on espn360 watching both the kansas and syracuse games and saw very competitive matchups. losing to SYR by 15 was not really indicative of how close the game actually was- most of those were late game garbage points as cornell was fouling to extend the game.

as for the kansas game, it took sherron collins the game of his life to squeek by cornell. and this is a team that has xavier henry and cole aldrich in the lineup. if he doesn’t hit the most insane shots in the last minute, this would be a very different discussion.
