***Cornell vs. Tufts for Pre-Med***

Cornell vs. Tufts.

I want to know which school will provide the best pre-med education, research opportunities, related extracurriculars, etc.

Thank you.

Don’t know too much about Tufts, so I can be totally wrong, but I always thought of it as more of a liberal arts university than a science oriented university. Someone correct me if my prejudice is inaccurate.

Regardless, I find Cornell difficult to beat for pre-med… or just science in general. Research opportunities are unbeatable and education is great. I am a freshman already in a lab. Advising is great too.

You can get into medical school from either. Both schools have high reputations, and there shouldn’t be a significant disadvantage to either.

There are many other factors. Reputation – most would give Cornell the edge, and there is an aura to the Ivy League. However, these days, there is significant overlap in the candidate pools. Tufts has become a ‘hot’ school. Many are rejected at Cornell and accepted at Tufts (and Vice Versa).

Tufts is urban/suburban and in Boston, Cornell is rural, which do you prefer? Cornell is a larger school, and with its 7 colleges probably has a more diverse student body, than Tufts with, I think 2 colleges.
