Congratulations!

Did they call or just email and update the application status?
My son received notice yesterday that he was not accepted off the Cornell waitlist. Update mentioned trying to transfer in a year or two if he was still interested.
Kid had a 1560 SAT, 3.98 GPA and tons of EC’s and didn’t get accepted at any reach or target schools. Even denied at a couple “safety” schools. Rough year for admissions to say the least.
Too bad but they gave a transfer option. What was the college?
That’s not a guaranteed transfer. It’s just the standard response many colleges write to encourage applicants to apply as a transfer at some point.
even if it is not guaranteed, are they given preference when they try to transfer?
Yes. Applying again furthers an applicant’s demonstrated interest and indicates to AOs that the applicant is more likely to commit if accepted than other transfer applicants.
Which college? CAS? COE?
@moneebee No, they didn’t give a transfer option, just mentioned he could apply to transfer in the future he if still had the desire to attend Cornell.
@nyc10023 COE - he applied for mechanical engineering.
Thank you.
DD22 just got the transfer option to Dyson!
Congratulations!
Me too! Got TO to dyson. Received an email about portal update around 3pm est.
Congrats! There was another kid on discord who got TO dyson too.
Has anyone called CoE?
I’m so sorry for what sounds like a truly disappointing experience. I hope he has a good option for the fall and all works out for him.
Still waiting… no news from CoE yet for me.
Thanks @CULSE It was definitely sobering to go through the process this year where he got turned down from so many schools he had higher test scores and GPAs (the 25th-75th percentile range) than the usual admitted student - but that was prior to all schools being test optional. He is going to attend the University of Minnesota - which he also had to wait to get of the waitlist.
