Cornell Waitlist Class of 2024

should we expect more from humec? they are doing it by phone call so it might be a longer process and there was only one person on here who got in

Thank god for this.

@belovedbytoni Is there only remaining 5 spots including you or are they making more decisions tomorrow?

@kidfrommass same. If i dont hear back from CAS on Friday, im gonna move on.

@belovedbytoni omg congrats! sorry if this is intrusive but how was your financial aid for dyson? iā€™m just wondering if getting off the waitlist has anything to do with aid

has anyone gotten off the waitlist from SHA recently?

.

Ugh. My heart dropped when I saw there were so many notifs from this thread and was thinking everyone got into CAS besides me lol. But one person getting in still discourages me. But of course a huge congratulations to that kid!

I just really really really hope they didnā€™t send that email to over a hundred kids that they know full well they wouldnā€™t accept. People from my town usually donā€™t get into ivy leagues so when I got that email and realized maybe my hard work would pay off to all I had hoped for, finally, after the hardest college application season, I was so so happy. Now I have to brace myself for rejection and it really sucks. This whole process do be sucking doe.

For CAS hopefuls, I have emailed admissions asking for clarification as to whether they are still intending to pull from the waitlist. Will let everyone know when they respond.

Their methodology sucks ngl. This is so confusing.

at least you got an email :((

If it makes u feel any better, I also got the email and no one reached out to me. I was so happy a week ago and now Iā€™m just sad they got my hopes up. Hey but weā€™re in this together

anyone wanna take one for the team and email humec for an update?

thanks @gwang968 let us know

for any CAS applicants feeling depressed, just remember that things can only look up from now. in the meantime, fall in love with the school you have already committed to. if youā€™ve made it this far, iā€™m sure youā€™ll be well off wherever you end up. keep ur head high

@gwang968 youre the goat

Yeah, huge facts, especially that last part. I really want all the work of the past four years to have been worth it and, feeling so close but with the threat of rejection very real and even likely, is crushing. Still, though, weā€™ll get through it eventually.

Fellow depressed CAS people, know that the school youā€™re committed to is someone elseā€™s dream school

Can someone post the link to the reddit post where people are saying they were admitted.

Also I completely agree. Cornell should not have sent that likely email to so many waitlisted applicants. I guess Ivy League schools donā€™t have standards and just rely on using their ancient history to draw in applicants.

i did not post on reddit, so that will be a different person, i guess.

Welp, time to go read about why people donā€™t like Cornell so I feel betterā€¦

Edit: ok I guess I already knew these things but like many people Iā€™ve ignored them to keep Cornell on its god-tier pedestal in my head. But as with any school, Cornell has its bad parts too. There are so many good things about Cornell that all of us here already know, this is just to console my dejected CAS homies:

  1. Ivys and other similar schools are overrated. Weā€™re going to get basically the same quality education for most likely half the price at our safeties.
  2. Cornell is hyper-competitive. Many people transfer out because of this.
  3. Cornell is in the middle of nowhere and the weather is booty.
  4. Cornell sucks at dealing with mental health issues on campus, even after the gorge suicide incidents a few years ago
  5. Cornell may be diverse ethnically, but not financially. Not a bad thing, but their claim to enormous student body diversity isnā€™t entirely correct.
