I haven’t heard any information of people getting off the waitlist! IK CAS has responded to some people, but not sure ant CALS. I am also on the waitlist for CALS. Good luck!
@happinessmatters Ya me too, I got that email at around 6:30 for CAS, should we expect a call from admissions tomorrow?
I got it too. But we will most likely not get a call or email until after May 1st.
Has anyone heard from Human Ecology?
Is it fair to assume that such an email indicates high probability of admission?
What would be the suggestion about committing to another college before the May 1 deadline? Some colleges stipulate withdrawing all other applications at the time of commitment, and it would be ideal to not commit to such colleges, if in fact Cornell admission is certain.
dude, i don’t know if you’re a parent or student but you need to commit before may 1st. one thing i’ve learned about the college process is nothing is a 100% certain. Don’t risk going to college because you received one flattering email from cornell.
@happinessmatters I couldn’t agree more with @dylanddr. If you don’t hear anything concrete from Cornell by 1 May, you need to commit to the college you’ve been accepted to. The worst thing that could happen is you lose your deposit if you end up getting accepted to Cornell and you enroll there.
You need to commit to a school by May 1. They don’t expect you to withdraw from the waitlists of other schools. If you get into the school you are waitlisted on and sign up with them, you lose the original deposit on the school you committed to.
I also got the email! I already committed to another school but did say I was interested because getting off of this waitlist would be incredible
damn i didn’t get an email. ugh.
Son got the email last night from Arts and Sciences. Trying to decide between Notre Dame and Rice. Won’t count Cornell chickens until hatched.
Wondering if anyone got off the waitlist from CALS
@happinessmatters @kidfrommass @papa1977 @benandjerrys101 did you submit a Letter of Continued Interest prior to getting this email?
@jerseynewt Yes, I did. I wrote a one-page LOCI a few days after decisions came out and uploaded it to my portal, and sent it as an attachment to emails I sent to Dean Felton and the UGA email account. Also, in those emails, I reiterated very briefly why my interest was still so high. (personally, I don’t think this was overboard, I think it’s showing commitment)
Also, I would think that this email is a strong indication that we are off the waitlist, right? Because someone for Dyson said they got an email asking whether they were still interested and then received a call an hour afterward. I guess maybe they will wait until May 1 to call out of some formality, but I still think this means admissions, otherwise why send the email?
one last thing, sorry for the number of posts, but did anyone receive email confirmation that their form was submitted yesterday because it would really suck if I messed the form up
@kidfrommass were you offered a TO as well, or no?
My approach was very similar to what kidfrommass has said. Just upload to the portal or send the letter to the admissions committee of the specific school you applied for.
no, I was not. I think those are more common at other schools, not CAS.
Yes I did
