Wow! Are you taking out a loan then?
No, fortunately we have been able to put money away into their 529’s from the minute they were born and invest well. They know not to take that for granted as others are not as fortunate to have the opportunity to apply to any college without financial limitations. However, having said that, it is also very important to me that they learn good fiscal responsibility so they are not just given a blank check to spend however they want on what they want at school. That way they learn to appreciate $ and also value it more.
COE rejected a majority of their waitlisted candidates and kept a very small list just in case.
I don’t understand why the other schools can’t figure out their class size though, or why they can’t get permission
I don’t think CALS is going to take anyone in so I just want to be rejected at this point.
what are y’alls thoughts on what the result of the humec waitlist is going to be?
do you happen to know how many/what percent they kept and how many/what percent they might take? tho i don’t expect the latter to be high
y’all thinkin there will be movement today??
Should we all get a final word by the end of next week maybe? I remember seeing somewhere on Cornell website saying the could be giving waitlist decisions as late as mid June…I don’t know…
honestly i don’t really think we’ll hear anything till like next month. on the last year forum they didn’t hear till july. I know it’s hard but we have to keep our mind of it for now😫
has anyone been able to reach cals through phone for any info?
Thank you. Everybody please stay well as we wait. We’ve made it so far and can continue doing it.
Do you guys think Cornell would take an ever lowest number of waitlisted candidates this year? No one got directly admitted off waitlist at CAS. Some say ILR has admitted a few but not many. In each of the past 5 years Cornell in total admitted at least 61 and at most 168 waitlisted students, but since this year they didn’t even use waitlist for CAS I doubt the number of currently admitted is that high yet. Would Cornell pick more from the remaining waitlists to reach the similar numbers as past years or would they just admit a historically low number??
i guess it may just be the historically lowest this year, unfortunately
and here i was thinking class of 2021 had better chances haha
idk why but i always assumed we had a lower chance because so many people applied this year. if i may ask, why did you think we had a better chance? (i’m asking to see another persons perspective and maybe feel like i can actually get in)
I was thinking they may take a greater number of students off the waitlist, but I also think the number on the waitlist is much higher this year so the overall percent would have been much smaller.
Now, I think the number of students will also be less than 61.
I know two people who are part of the smaller list but idk the percentage… just not a lot because they stated that there’s a very very small chance that anyone would be admitted from that list.
Maybe they have a very good yield, or they got a lot of gap students from 2020. I still find it hard to believe they took zero from the CAS waitlist. Time to move on…
wait if i haven’t been rejected am i part of that list automatically?
I think many schools everywhere are seeing much higher yields than they expected hence schools are not going to their waitlists like they anticipated.
I am happy I don’t have an entering senior because while they can learn from a lot of the bad information this year, I think if it’s true that so many schools over enrolled this year that we may see many compensate for that next year with big corrections. Also, the big deferrals next year may be for internationals that can’t get their visa together this year and are granted the deferrals which means schools will be holding those spaces for them in the Fall of 2022 which also negatively impacts the Fall of 2022 applicants.
Hey just curious as to where they got this information, or is it just speculation from them?
