so which school is harder to get into as a transfer: cornell cas or cornell engineering?

CAS has the lower acceptance rate, however if you want to be accepted to the CoE, you need to show you are geared towards the math area and a clear fit for engineering.

i see. from where did you find the admissions rates?

Cornell Website. Go to their Common Data Set or go to the College Admissions forum on CC and select the featured thread about data sets. Find Cornell's for the most current year.

I believe CAS is 8%. CoE is definitely higher than that although I dont know the exact figure. I believe its in the mid to high teens. Like I said before, dont let the higher acceptance rate fool you. A 4.0 from a decent school with barely any math or engineering related courses will not give you any chance whatsoever. I suggest making sure you have all the prereqs taken care of before applying. CAS is a little different and prereqs arent too much of a problem because of the liberal arts base. But a specialized school like CoE will make sure you have required and recommended courses completed. Hope this helps.

i couldn't find the data on cornell's common data set. and i also couldn't find the data on CC's featured threads in "College Admissions." any help dearsiryes?

i should have been more clear, where is the data located on the common data set? i couldn't find the exact numbers...

Section D...........

Scroll down to where it says: Transfer Admission

yeah i found "Section D" a while back...but where is the info. for transfer admissions to the college of engineering? that's why i started this thread...

BABOOM!

Thank you, thank you...

Yessir, thank you very much.

boy i really hope i didn't miss that...anyway you da man.

Nah, you didn't miss that.

But yes, I is da man.

and if i might add, that transfer rate is certainly daunting. 8% to CAS really means nothing until you see the numbers. 81/1045 freaks me out a lot more than 8%...
