She wouldn't give up. Maybe some would call that dedication, but in my opinion since I didn't like her, she made a fool of herself. Also, I did really like what she became this year. Before Bill Clinton was the unofficial Black President, but when his wife was running both of them seemed to expect the votes of Black people. Then they started to insult Obama bases on his race saying that he won because he was black and whatever. They think they are like the white saviors of Black people in this country. And it was funny to me to see them lose after that.

But take that comment as a matter of opinion that I will not budge on knowing that you will not budge on your stance on Hilary. And like I said, if she won the nomination I would have supported her too. She also has opened doors for white women in the country. Not me, as a Black women nor Black men, but yes, white women can now hope to be President and hold higher positions.

cayuga, i know, i said that we do (with taxes). it wasnt until a couple of weeks ago when i really found out about what the social security goes to. i just thought it would be benefitting me, but it doesnt. ughh i dont want to argue about this...im really not knowledgeable on the workings of economics to come up with a response that is to your liking.

and you also make it seem like i hate obama! i dont. its just another thing to think about during this election. as of right now, im heading toward the direction to obama, but that realization of what he is pledging to do and how that will affect me and my family made me take a step back. i dont see why that is wrong

But that's not a matter of opinion. You are saying things that aren't true. Hillary didn't say Obama won because of race. In fact, she never touched the race issue. Bill may have, but he wasn't running for president. And Hillary didn't give up because she had a realistic chance of winning. In fact, she was winning the popular vote. Why should she have given up? Obama himself agreed that she should stay in the race until the last state voted...

And I'm pretty sure Hillary opened doors for more than just white women.

Of course Social Security benefits you! You pay into the system today, helping to support retirees and disabled individuals. And then when you retire (or hopefully not become disabled!) you will receive benefits from the system.

To be frank, all of the talk of Social Security not being around for our generation is totally bogus fear mongering advocated by a bunch of Wall Street fat cats who would get even richer with all the fees associated with the "privatization" of Social Security. The Social Security system is perfectly viable with minor adjustments to the age at which benefits are granted (people are living longer, after all).

hopefully SS will benefit me...but now the system is practically going down the tubes with the baby boomers reaching that AARP age

Laur u should compare their economic plans. Obama will most likely save u more (but not sure ur exact situation...). Did u know the war has on average cost each American family more than 80,000 dollars? McCain is only going to continue that. Obama has a very smart economic plan and u should research it...I cannot say the same for McCain's plan. Obama actually makes more tax breaks for the middle class than McCain...which is hilarious. Obama tax increases will be primarily for the wealthiest couple percentage of America who have gotten to earn an insane amount of money under Repub administrations. I feel as if people are forgetting that Dems are the strong arm for the middle class (unions n such...always trying to help blue collar workers. Most blue collar workers who support Repubs usually do it for social/moral reasons instead of economic.) <---most...obvi not all so don't get mad

One of the reasons I'm happy Obama won is that he has so much support from our generation as compared to many in our gen who hate Clinton (unfortunately there was much mudslinging within our gen towards Clinton...just look at facebook for an example). I feel that he has attracted many youth voters to the Democratic party.

From someone who raised the concern about me, I don't think everyone else is wrong, I just type strong mindedly.

^^

1. good idea...i'll look into that. but im just saying that it will negatively affect those who arent blue collar workers... :(

2. i agree. i didnt like hilary. the clinton family got away with a lot of stuff that they shouldnt have. they also steal (did you know they are the only presidential family who actually stole furniture out of the white house? they thought it was theirs!) and if hilary was in office, bill would be first man...but most likely still act like he was pres! we cant have 12 years of clintons in office

^ and #2 that would be so terrible? God forbid we have peace and prosperity again.

The '92-'99 Clinton presidency may have been one of "peace and prosperity", but boy was that Bill Clinton some slippery eel (and no, that was not a sexual innuendo).

Who cares? I'm so sick of people voting on retarded things - "This person ran the country AMAZINGLY - but THEY STOLE FURNITURE! -gasp-"

Seriously people - if you wanna play that game, I have a whole list of reasons you shouldn't vote for Obama.

SoccerGuy -- Aren't you one of those people voting on a "retarded thing".

soccer_guy I think laura was just trying to be funny, chill dude

Bill Clinton might have been a slippery eel, but I agree with soccer_guy's assessment: the man really knew how to run a country.

Cayuga, voting for a man who I don't trust, who I can't stand, who I've done research on and found out way too much - is not a retarded thing.

Stealing furniture? Yea - that's retarded.

^ So you're voting for McCain?

^ It's highly likely, unless Hillary is VP - in that case, I'd feel safer with Obama as President - I know she'd at least be there.

several respectable black leaders do not like obama but are just voting for him because he's black...

that alone is irresponsible and not voting based on policy...

Please do share some of this research you have, SoccerGuy, because FoxNews would sell an arm and a leg to publish some of it. And next time, please don't quote something verbatim without attributing the source.

I'll play it to you straight: You have developed an emotional attachment to a particular candidate and are no longer thinking as a rational voter should.

cayuga: surely not all of obama's fans are rational voters who could explain his policy? not now nor come november time...

No. But I would expect that Cornell students vote on policy and not on emotion.

SoccerGuy -- As somebody who campaigned for Hillary, do you honestly believe that the country will be better under a Republican administration than a Democratic administration?
