Is there any difference in the prestige of Cornell's endowed (engineering, arts and science...) and the contract colleges (human ecology, agriculture and life sci)? Is the diploma different? Is one kind easier than the other to get into? R the contract colleges still part of the Ivy League or is it considered a SUNY?

Diplomas are all from Cornell. Although technically part of the State system, the contract colleges tuition is 5X that of a true SUNY school. I’m sure there are some students at the Endowed colleges within Cornell that “look down” upon the Contract colleges, but my D (Human Ec) has never experienced it. Admit rates at Contracts tend to be higher than Engineering and / or A & S & they take a lot of transfers.

It’s pretty easy to look up which are state/endowed.

That being said, I wouldn’t be able to tell you which ones are which off the top of my head except engineering = endowed even after 4.5 years at Cornell. So at least within the Cornell community I don’t think anyone cares.

Diplomas are the same I think… refer to Cornelli2008’s response to another similar thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/502715-cals-diploma.html

According to SUNY’s website, they technically are but… I’ve never really heard of them being referred to as SUNY. https://www.suny.edu/student/campuses_complete_list.cfm
