Cornell's Science Departments

Is Cornell known for having a strong science department relative to the other Ivies and top national universities like Hopkins and Carnegie Mellon?

AMAAAAZING science department. Very well known for biology, animal sciences, engineering, agricultural sciences and many other departments. I'm not premed but I'm applying to PhD programs right now and just the fact that I go to Cornell makes my application 100x stronger. I'm a biological sciences major and I can honestly say that I could not have gotten a better education anywhere else.

careyshao: Did you even research Cornell before you applied ED? Why don't you relax and enjoy your sweet acceptance to one of the greatest institutions in the world? With all due respect, there are very deserving people on this board who are still rattled from deferrals and rejections to their dream school. Give it a rest. I agree with some of the comments on the other threads - you do sound like bball87.

Now... to give you an answer to your question. Yes - it's know for it's sciences. I had the opportunity to tour of the new Life Sciences building and it makes me want to go back to school!

^I can't believe that thing's finally finished. Yes, Cornell is very very good in the sciences.

Well... it's not quite finished. I took a hard-hat tour, but it should be finished in late Spring!

at least "caseyshao" is worried about prestige and not gasp SAT averages a la bball.
