Cornell's strongest undergrad department?

Is there a certain undergrad department (ie business, bioengineering, architecture...etc) that is stronger than any other?

not really - I never though you should compare two totally different programs. As for Cornell, departments such as architecture, enginnering, hotel, ilr, and sciences are generally among the top few in the nation.

Gome-baby,

I know the English department is pretty reputable at the graduate level, but what about for undergraduates?

I'm assuming about the same - same profs and everything, I don't forsee a huge decline in quality

Can't compare programs with each other (like engineering vs. hotel school for instance). It's much better to compare the individual programs relative to similar programs at other universities if you're doing any kind of comparing at all.

So... relatively speaking (with other similar programs elsewhere). You basically can't beat Cornell Architecture or Hotel School, you can beat Cornell Engineering in some aspects with some of the more tech/engineering oriented schools, and in some aspects only if you go to MIT or Caltech.

Actually, Cornell's really strong in just about everything. Just look up the school motto ;) I just listed some of the top programs that we have.

Cornell's biggest weakness? It snowed in April this previous semester and I hated it :(

There's no difference between a "grad department" and "undergrad department."

There's just a department and what the university does with it.

Yes, I agree that Cornell Architecture is very good -- 12th in this ranking, which is probably the most accurate out there:

The most outstanding Cornell departments I'd say are agriculture/food science/animal sciences/soil sciences, etc., because of the university's great agriculture school.

Bioinformatics is top 5 or 6, too (http://chronicle.com/stats/productivity/page.php?bycat=true&primary=12&secondary=116) as is engineering: http://www.sciencewatch.com/nov-dec2002/sw_nov-dec2002_page2.htm#Engineering

One big advantage in ILR is you can pursue so many area of study, like business, economics, law, etc

thanks for the clarifications

Yes ILR is a strong undergrad school.
