Is there any type of way that you sign up for vision correction surgery during your first year? I read something like that in the navy forum and wondered how it worked for Air Force.

The Navy doesn't offer vision correction until after you have started your third academic year. They don't want to make any major investments in midshipmen until they have incurred an obligation and committed to serve in the military. I would assume that the Air Force has a similar policy.

The Air Force Academy offers vision correction surgery at the beginning of the third year. The cadet must be highly qualified for pilot training in all other respects, and it is HIGHLY competitive for the few slots that the Air Force approves.
