I've just been accepted to all three of these colleges with very good financial aid for each. I've already visited Oswego and am visiting Cortland and Albany for their accepted student tour days in the spring. I'll be a history major and French minor. Thoughts/opinions on these three? Academics, student life, general atmosphere, professors, students, etc. Thank you!

I HATED Cortland! The area around Cortland SUCKS the college itself is bigger than the city it’s in. I haven’t seen Oswego so I am indifferent. However, if I had to pick between Cortland and Albany, Albany would win by a LANDSLIDE. There are a bunch of colleges near Albany it’s a cute little area.

My older daughter is currently a freshman at SUNY Cortland and LOVES it. Everybody we speak with absolutely loves the school. We find it to be very warm and friendly. The town is small, but it’s very cute. My daughter goes to a lot of sporting events and has joined a few teams for fun- softball, basketball and volleyball. Her dorm is gorgeous as it is new. They are currently building a multi- million dollar sports complex for kids who are not athletes. It’s really a beautiful school. My daughter has many new friends and is thriving. It is definitely a perfect fit. She was also accepted to The University of Buffalo and had to choose between the two- she also loved UB but in the end found it to be too big. Oswego was another school that she was accepted to. We visited the school twice and the first time she loved it, but the second time she did not see it as a good fit. The school is gorgeous and they have that magnificent ice rink and lake. She did not apply to Albany. I was pleasantly surprised when we did our SUNY tour as the schools were all great and you can’t beat the price. It’s interesting as each school has it’s own unique personality. Good luck!

Ok, so maybe I was a little unfair I’m sorry. Lets try again

Cortland is a HUGE sports school which is why I wanted to visit it. You can see the school spirit painted everywhere. They also have this really cool vending machine store

I did not necessarily explore the town as I was in a hotel but when we went out for food I believe all we really saw was a supermarket, a little ceasars and an Applebee’s. there were a lot of car lots but I didn’t see like a social scene. I dislike that the campus was so big there was a shuttle to get around it.

Yes it is a big sports school and there is a lot of school spirit. I love that vending machine!! Most of the social life centers around the campus. There are a few decent restaurants in the town, along with a few drug stores etc. There is also a bus to Walmart.
