Guys lol the admissions rate for COSMOS is over 50%… I thought this was a selective program T-T.
@bowlofemales is the admission data released for each campus ? Please share. Where are you admitted to ?
Sorry… I meant @bowlofwhales
@bowlofwhales it depends on your cluster. Some clusters have a 50% acceptance rate, some have a 3% acceptance rate. I think the one I applied/got in to hovers around 20%, since it’s a first choice only cluster. One cluster at UCSD, however, accepted 18/600 students.
@bowlofwhales that is dependent for each cluster. The OVERALL program acceptance is usually around 16%. (180-220 kids admitted from over 1000 applicants per campus).
@michelle426 Just wondering where did you get those numbers? I looked up bowlofwhales’s part and found the 50% admissions rate was at least from 2011. Link is here http://www.ucop.edu/diversity-engagement/_files/cosmos-program-outcomes.pdf
@Kazero that was four years ago. Are you serious? Since then, all four campuses have each received over 1000 applications (the usual number is around 1200) every year (they say this on their website and in their emails). Usually, there are 10 clusters (UCD opened up a new one this year to “accommodate” more students) with 20 students in each. Also, each campus usually brings in 50-100 kids for waitlists every year (my mom asked about this yesterday, and the program director responded). In my freshman year, UCD only had 10 clusters (hence, 200 kids are allowed to attend), and with over 1200 applicants (this number has been steadily rising), the acceptance rate for the program was only 16.67%. Unfortunately, your numbers are obtained from several years ago, and while they may have been accurate back then, the program has become much more selective due to a fixed number of spots per campus and a growing applicant pool.
@Kazero Also, if you look further into the actual number of students that attended yearly from 2006-2010 (basically ages ago), you’ll see that program attendance was relatively low due to the fact that maybe not that many people applied and some campuses just basically handed out acceptances, and now each program consistently fills up its around 200 student quota.

Teacher Rec #1: Don’t know, but I had him for four days over the summer and we bonded a lot and I go visit his classrooms sometimes during the school year. He’s really supportive of COSMOS.
Teacher Rec #2: Don’t know, and I don’t know him very well. But he was also very supportive of COSMOS and is extremely chill.
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: good cluster essay (I think they like to see how you can apply the knowledge you learn from the program, and be really passionate and enthusiastic about it). Frankly that’s the only thing I can think of right now since my GPA isn’t that great and I don’t have a lot of extracurriculars in regards to clubs or math/science competitions. Also, this cluster isn’t as competitive as others.
EDIT: I’m attending! Look forward to getting to know everyone at UCSD.
@michelle426 Lol don’t worry I know it was four years ago, that’s why I asked you for your more recent stats Sorry if it sounded challenging in any way
if I didnt get any email, how can i check my acceptance??
@pinodyne Go to your application portal - further info to register and stuff should be there if you were accepted
@michelle426 i went to the application status at the website, and if it says “not accepted,” does that mean im rejected or is it waitlist??
Hi everyone–just to let you know, I started a Facebook group for anyone attending the Davis campus–it’s called COSMOS UC Davis 2015. Please join!
@pinodyne it means rejected. waitlist will just say waitlist.
