@boloking, mine is working. Which campus were you accepted to?
does anyone know how likely it is to get off the waitlist
@Mathophile26 I’m accepted to UCSD… how about you?
@APboy I just emailed them asking how can I gain permission. It’s probably a bug lol
LOL you right! Thanks!! @boloking Anyone here Accepted to UCSD Cluster 4??
@cy2019 for what campus? im prolly gonna drop my UCSD engineering one
General question about this program: Is it really that great of a thing to do over the summer? I was also accepted into an internship at Boeing and aren’t sure about which one to choose.
@cdubs61 Its hard to give more substantive advice without knowing more details about the Boeing internship. For example, how long is it? What would you do there? Is there any sort of mentorship? You would also want to take into consideration which program would best align with your potential future interests. From what I have heard from friends who went to COSMOS, it’s a fun, educational experience, but an internship probably would allow more depth and valuable experience.
TLDR: I would recommend the internship, but it really depends on the quality of that internship and what you are looking for in a summer program.
@boloking I have permission now!
Can any of you view the UC Davis forms?
Waitlisted for UCSD cluster 5.
Anyone get in for UCSD Cluster 5? (Lights)
@APboy Me too I think they fixed it
Hi guys, I joined cc just to meet others that got into cosmos. Damn, reading this thread makes me feel like the odd one out; my stats are nowhere near as good as you guys!
Decision: Accepted
Campus: UCD
Cluster: 9-- Mathematical Modelling of Biological Systems
GPA(UW): 3.95
GPA(W): 4.0
Grade: 10
Honors/AP: Only 1 this year–AP European History; none last year. I’m a year ahead in math(which isn’t really that big of a deal–it’s only pre-calc), and I’m taking a pretty unique science class–biotechnology. Our school’s biotech lab is state-of-the-art and is one of two schools in the country with one.
Extracurriculars: Math Team (treasurer and co-publicity), Green Team(environmental science club, board member), assistant teacher at math olympiad-based prep company, Build and Stage crew for award-winning school theatre program, Interact club(for those who don’t know, it’s a volunteer organization affiliated with the rotary).
General Essay/Statement of Interest: ok, well I made a very stupid mistake and accidentally submitted my cluster essay twice. I contacted the admissions at ucd cosmos, and they said they couldn’t do anything about it. Tbh, this was definitely the biggest thing holding me back, and I’m incredibly surprised I got in, considering my grades weren’t very spectacular either.
Cluster Essay: 9.5. A good essay to accidentally submit twice.
Teacher Rec #1: 9.5/10. Pre-calc teacher and math team coach, and she really likes me. Also, ik she’s good at writing recs bc she let my friend read his, and he got into stanford last year. But, I goof off in her class a bit, so that might be the only downside that could’ve been reflected in my rec.
Teacher Rec #2: 8/10. Biotech teacher and tutorial (study hall) advisor. She knows how much I love biology, and I’m always leaving tutorial for green team and math competitions so she knows that I’m deeply involved in those activities as well. However, she’s a relatively new teacher, so doesn’t have a lot of experience writing recs, and I goof off in her class quite a bit too.
Why do I think I was accepted: recs and extracurriculars, possibly cluster essay. My teachers are both really great, and while two of my ec’s seem kinda random and not stem-related, when explaining my activities I talked about how my stem interests influence Interact and crew, and vice versa. The one essay that I did turn in showed my passion greatly as well, and how cosmos would not just influence me, but the community in turn.
Who else got into Cluster 9 UCD? I’d love to talk to you guys!
Also, I was talking to my friend (same one who got into stanford), who happened to do the same cluster, and he said that while cosmos was fun, the material wasn’t very in-depth. Thing is, I also got into Girls Who Code Summer Immersion; which one do you think will teach me more? College is important, but ultimately, I care more about where I can learn the most. If one program looks better than the other, that’s cool too.
Sorry for the long post!
@nitanu32 i got into both cosmos and girls who code as well… does anyone have any advice on which program is more useful?
@bubbles6 @nitanu32 omg me too!! i think i’m gonna do cosmos (cluster 5 video game design), just bc i’m gonna be a senior and I don’t think taking 7 weeks out of my summer is that good since I have to apply to schools during then. girls who code is supposed to be a fun bonding experience where you build a project with a team. They also say that the curricula for gwc isn’t as rigorous as an AP compsci class. I think cosmos looks better for college, just b/c it’s more competitive to get into. I guess it depends on what major you want to go into
Hi guys,
Decision: Accepted
Campus: UCD
Cluster: 1-- Quantum Physics and nanotechnology
GPA(UW): 4.0

Grade: 11
Honors/AP: 7 so far–Physics 1, Statistics, Computer Science, Calculus AB, Physics C:mechanics, Physics C:E&M,
Chinese 4, and a lot of honors.
Extracurriculars:Sorry, I get lazy at typing easily
Cluster Essay: 9.5. A good one
The other essay: 9.5. Another good one
Teacher Rec #1: 8.5/10. Calculus teacher, he really likes me.
Teacher Rec #2: 9/10. Physics teacher, he really likes me too. Also, my second year having him.
Why do I think I was accepted: recs and extracurriculars, possibly cluster essay.
Who else got into Cluster 1 UCD? I’d love to talk to you guys!
I also got into HSSRP @UCLA and Engineering Innovation@JHU. I just want to know which one is the most prestigious?
Quick question but how do you check your essay and teacher rec stats?
@LeoGuo1999 I got into Cluster 1 at UCD also!
For UCI has anyone been able to check the google form?
@astrolakers i haven’t either, maybe you have to say that you’re going before filling out the form, bc since it’s a roommate survey, they need to know that you’re going, but idk
did anyone get into uci cluster 3 (tissue/tumor bio)?!?!
