I was waitlisted at UCSD. Does anybody know how many people are typically waitlisted per school, and when they will notify you of your acceptance/rejection?
i know a bunch of people who were waitlisted, and i know that most people arent able to get off the waitlist, but if you did get off, they’d notify you probably around a week after april 28th…
Got into UCSD cluster 2! Anybody else?
@nanoxion the stats for essay and recs are what you rate them out of 10. Honestly, this is one of those things that makes cc not useful, bc it’s super subjective, and I think we should stop doing it entirely. In fact, i think stats posts are generally incredibly toxic. Ik ik im very hypocritical
@frog2018 AAyyyyy! See you there!
@LeoGuo1999 can you access the Davis forms on the website?
@frog2018 I can’t open the survey, when I clicked on the link, I got:
Once you have downloaded and installed Acrobat Reader, click on the link again; you may have a button in the
top right that says “Open with a different viewer”. Instead, we suggest you download and save the PDF to your
computer. If not, you may lose work and need to start over.
I downed Abrobat Reader, still got the same.
UCI Cluster 2!
@APboy I’m in UCSD cluster 4 too ! Did you happen to find the fb group to join?
@raffie Hey girl, I was in your exact same position my freshman year — deciding between the exact same cluster (UCSC Cluster #5, video game design) and Girls Who Code. I wanted to give you my two cents regarding which summer program you decide to attend.
I ended up attending COSMOS. I don’t like to say this, because I know COSMOS is usually very highly regarded, but I did regret it. It was all fun and games, but not a real and challenging learning experience that I desired. At times, it honestly felt like a waste of $3k. Imho even the cluster itself was poorly organized and poorly taught.
My friend ended up going to Girls Who Code and she loved it — she became great friends with her team members, and actually received an internship the following year through a networking opportunity. I can’t say that I wasn’t jealous of what she managed to create over the summer (the game that I myself made at COSMOS I was not proud to show off, and will probably never show off.)
But these are just my thoughts on COSMOS and on Girls Who Code; you might want to try asking others what they thought of the two programs (at my school, the case is often that COSMOS alumni feel that the program in general wasn’t worth the money and didn’t provide a valuable experience). Colleges want you to attend meaningful programs that were valuable to you in some way that you can write about. Looking back, there is honestly not much that I can write about my summer with COSMOS at all.
@geekachu I was not able to! But, We can maybe try to start a cluster 4 groupme or something? LOL I’m just too excited!!!
@throwoway thank you so much for your input, I really appreciate it! Do you think it’s Cluster 5 itself that is not worth it, or COSMOS in general? And did your peers in your cluster also feel the same way? I’m worried that GWC will take too much of my time that I could be using to work on college apps and summer hw, and COSMOS seemed like it would look better b/c of its competitiveness, but I’m not sure…
@raffie I personally would choose COSMOS, because 1, you gain hands-on experience with something you genuinuley love to do and you can do it while making new friends over summer! Also, Attending COSMOS will help give you a boost in UC Admissions for undergraduate. I believe you get extra points if you attend.
Accepted UCI Cluster 4! Does anyone wanna make a fb group?
My daughter is going to UCI Cluster 4 too.
whoever’s going to uci cluster 3, wanna make a fb group?

I’ve only every gone to CTY before this; is there anyone here that has experience with both that could comment on the social and environmental differences between the camps?
