COSMOS 2019

@slayerdang If you have another chance next year, don’t lose hope! I applied the last two years and was rejected then got in this year on my third try. Your ECs, qualifications, and writing skills will naturally improve over time.

@thequeenmum1 @andjustwhen Yep, accepted to cluster 4 @ UCI! No idea how competitive it is specifically, but bio clusters tend to be competitive. Either way, it’s a very respectable program and you should be proud of yourselves!

@tiger17 I did!

Accepted - UCSC Cluster 8: Marine Mammals and Oceanography: From Prey to Predators (2nd Choice)

Grade: 10

GPA: 4.0 UW

ECs: USABO semifinalist, Club Officer, Did a research project over the summer with findings that the district is going to implement

Essays: Okay I think, somewhat interesting

Congrats to everyone else who got in, and for those who didn’t get in, don’t get discouraged. I applied last year and was rejected, but applied again this year, and was accepted.

@astudentlikeu

Congrats on getting in. Good job. About financial assistance, you definitely can appeal. You have a foot in the door. Write to them to review your situation and share the facts. Also I’d highly recommend editing out the “damn program” comment. Social media comments lives for ever.

sad, rejected by UCI. I applied #3 and #7. Wondering if anyone gets in these two clusters, can you post profile? thank you!

On their website they said that only 5% of all spaces are for out-of-state applicants. Did anyone from out-of-state apply like me? Did you guys get in? I got rejected from UC Davis.

Rejected UCSD Cluster 7 and 6, somewhat unexpected as my essays were pretty good, I’m an officer in my robotic’s club and we’re one of the best in the state, and I am active in other clubs, and volunteer at hospitals. Oh well, congrats to all those who got in!!

i applied from out of state and was accepted

I got waitlisted at UCSC. My first choice was cluster 9 Machine Learning and NLP and my second choice was cluster 6 Computer Networking and Robotics. Does anyone know how likely I can get in?

@tiger17 congrats! What cluster?

@astronomy21 ucsc cluster 9: machine learning and nlp

I’m a freshman who applied to Cluster 2: Engineering Design & Control of Kinetic Sculptures and Cluster 4: When Disaster Strike: Earthquake Engineering at UCSD, and got a rejection. I’m currently part of an FTC team and and have a lot of coding experience. If anyone was accepted to Cluster 2 or 4 could you please write your stats.

@tiger17 Nice!

@joeandbob thanks!

damn, rejected. does anybody know if you can contact them to ask for feedback on your application?

@hihm23 try their ‘Contact Us’ pages, specifically the one at the campus you applied to

@joeandbob If it’s any consolation, I was accepted into Cluster 9 and may reject the acceptance if I get into the other summer program I applied to (~5 days or so). Considering that there’s probably a good amount of kids who’ve applied to more than one summer program as I did, you should be pretty optimistic! Don’t give up hope.

Congrats to those who got accepted!

For those who got waitlisted, there is still hope! They always take people off the waitlist so maybe you’ll get lucky!

For those who got rejected, don’t let this little setback destroy you. Instead, look onwards! Feel free to PM me for alternatives.

As a COSMOS alum, I definitely have to say it’s not the end of the world if you are waitlisted. How long it’ll take you to get off the waitlist, I have no idea but to give you perspective, I was not accepted until mid June (which is waaay after everyone else had paid their tuition and whatnot). Just don’t expect to be offered financial for sure if you get waitlisted because I qualified for 100% and got 0. :^)

@hihm23 you can email them. They even give you the reason. Last year my son got rejected. We emailed them and they gave us feedback.
