waitlisted at UCI cluster 9, if anyone wants to do me a favor and drop it that would be great
waitlisted UCSC cluster 5 video game design… I feel like it’s because I’m a 9th grader
I got into UCSD cluster 11 too! Is there a Discord for admitted applicants?
Waitlist for UCI cluster 9 as first choice and cluster 4 as alternative. Anyone else get a status update for this?
I dont think so but if someone could make one plz lemmie know
Hey! Any chance I could see your stats? I was rejected. Thank you!
Do you know if there’s a good chance i’ll get in if i’ve been waitlisted?
Waitlisted
???: UCI
???: 3 ( applied only to 3) Mathematical Modelling of Tumor
???: 4.0/4.7
???: 10
??? ??? : Waitlisted, enrolled in AP Calculus BC in 10th grade and doing MVC at CTY JHU concurrently.
???: Math Club, Math Camp
Idk what I did wrong, was very passionate in essay, though not having AP BIo or passion for Bio was absent from my app.
What did say in your guys’ rejection letter?
Mine was:
Thank you for applying to the 2020 COSMOS program. Each year we receive many more qualified applicants than the number of students we can serve, and the selection process is therefore difficult. Although your application was impressive, we regret to inform you that you have not been admitted into COSMOS this year.
Your cluster is one of the most competitive clusters at your campus and I’m guessing that everyone who applied must have the same established application. It would be hard to be accepted unless you were a junior and given an advantage
Why are there so many people on the waitlist this year?
Waitlisted at UCI for cluster 4 & 8
Waitlisted at UCSD cluster 6 (second choice cluster 3)
@ISuckAtLeague , my stats were:
SAT: 1350
ACT: 31
GPA: 4.21
Extracurrics: peer tutoring in math and physics for 4 years, volunteering with people who have special needs for 5 years, on the debate team (an officer for it too), peer tutoring club (an officer as well), and circle of friends club (also an officer), and many more things!
And I had really amazing rec letters and personal essay responses so I don’t know what I did wrong
Did you guys also get this: You are currently on the waitlist, and if a space becomes available, and you are the next person, we will contact you immediately. Is this a generic message or is this a message everyone got?
Stats if anyone wants to know
???: UCSD
???: 11
???: 4.00 UW, 4.25 W
SAT: 1490
???: 11
??? ???: Accepted
??? ??? : 6/10, I wrote a nerdy personal story about how one of my projects I made connects to the cluster I applied too. I wrote it in a couple of hours, I was ok
??? ???: 9/10, I took a couple of weeks to write it, my school has almost no successful Latinos even though 50% is Latino, I wrote about inspiring them and connected it to a book I read and my mom’s first-generation experience coming to the US from Venezuela.
???: 8/10, Clarinet - All-State, All-Northern, played for 6 years. Piano - Certificate of Merit w/ Branch Honors x6, playing for 10 years. Programming - Been programming for 3 years, talked about the project I’ve made and the projects I’m currently working
??? ???: 9/10, this was my Computer Science teacher, I got way ahead in the class and I have a pretty good relationship with him. He also helped me found the Computer Science club at my school, and he wears a cosmos hat to school sometimes.
This is the exact message I got. It’s pretty similar, but there’s a couple of slight differences here and there
You have been selected as an alternate for this year’s COSMOS program. You are currently on the waitlist, and if a space becomes available, and you are the next person, we will contact you immediately.
If you are admitted from the waitlist, you will have 7 days from that notification to accept the admission offer and make the deposit payment. Additional details will be provided at that time.
If you run into any technical questions, please email cosmos@eresources.com and we will respond during normal business hours.
Accepted UCI cluster 2 but idk if I’ll go since its so expensive
This is just my opinion, I don’t know how it works, but both my 9th and 10th grader were accepted (one at Davis, other at UCSC). To those asking “what did I do wrong” I don’t think you did ANYTHING wrong. Most of you have amazing records and will no doubt go on to great success. But I do suspect that part of the COSMOS mission is to provide access to students where it can have the most impact, meaning I think students who haven’t had these types of experiences before. So… I think writing about similar programs you’ve loved, or all the ECs that show exposure to advanced topics may make them think you don’t need any help. I think some of these spots go to widen horizons of kids that might not get that chance otherwise. But of course it is very dependent on the Professors running the cluster.
@ssanso11, how did you find this?
