Assuming you’re, and I have no reason to doubt you, the vast majority are still either rising juniors or senior. @CrimsonWife at my childrens’ standard public high school, there were many kids who took algebra as 9th graders, so I’m thinking there is no shortagr of kids who can apply as rising sophomores, so as such, I think it’s still skewed toward rising juniors and seniors.
But, if COSMOS does get cancelled this summer, it does beg the question whether they will defer acceptances to next year if the kids aren’t rising seniors. Another option, though not ideal, would be if they did some sort of online program during the summer.
Ah interesting thought! I have a Junior so my child cannot go. Also, if they do get in but they ultimately cancel it, would saying that they were accepted help boost their app? I have also heard camps are moving online, would that reduce the cost as they will not need accommodation, food etc? So much uncertainty…feel bad for my kid…
At least the facilities COSMOS uses are all owned by the UCs… summer programs that rent space I think will have to make a decision to cancel quite a bit earlier. On the other hand, COSMOS is a big program, with lots of kids together. We are hoping it doesn’t get cancelled, accepted or not, over here too.
The governor wants to put covid patients into UC dorms to quarantine them! What do parents think about that I wonder (whose kids are currently enrolled there). It is public property after all I suppose. The thought just scared the day lights out of me.
@pingu2020 My daughter goes to school in NYC, and they cleared the dorms there really quickly, with the possibility that they might need them for field hospitals. The virus only lives a few days on objects, so it isn’t a worry to me. Honestly, usually they barely clean them over the summer so maybe they’d get a real scrubbing?? In all seriousness, I don’t think it is a concern. In terms of the UCs… I can’t see them using UCSC? It is too isolated. UCSD for sure, with a couple of major hospitals right there, and UCLA and Berkeley as well. But it seems like they are working on expanding capacity first in terms of existing hospitals and temporary hospital expansions. I don’t think it will happen, but this is all new territory so who knows.
My application for cluster 7 UCSD still says Completed on the dashboard instead of In Review like many others. Does anyone else have the same thing and is this a bad sign since the decisions come out tomorrow?
@lec717 I dont think that has anything to do with anything. Don’t overthink it. Lets see if its still on to begin with
If they do admit students and then cancel, would it help to mention the acceptance in the UC apps?
Are decisions coming out at midnight?
5pm tomorrow I think
@deneuralyzer last year it came out at 5:00 p.m. PST.
Admissions are coming out soon, I applied for 2 clusters in UCSD.
I just wanted to wish everyone luck!!
Good luck and congrats in advance to whoever makes it… if they don’t cancel
even if you don’t make it this year, there is always next year
Good Luck!
im so nervous good luck everyone!!
good luck to those who applied to the more competitive clusters!
Um, where do we view the decision when it comes out? (sorry I’m new at this lol)
They usually send an email and even update the application portal.
