Cosmos

@ eholman
Thanks, what cluster are you applying to?

@iliheartmusic
I read in a different thread from last years students that people got notifications as early as April 21st.

@ emily UCSC cluster 9 oceanography & statistics

yeah people did get replys early about application status so i think it means everyone should be notified by may 1st

I got my UCI acceptance email on April 21st last year, if that helps.

@eholman Good luck! I applied to UCD.

@Waggish Thanks, it helps. I can’t believe it’s barely been a week since the application deadline. Another month of waiting…

I applied to UCSD last year and it was a lot of fun, the academics aren’t that great but you do learn a lot.

Somead896, I applied to UCSD as well… which cluster did you go to?

Hi! I applied for Chemistry at UCD.
Does anyone know if we will have access to the campus facilities, such as the library, or the gym?

omg i know this period were you have to wait a month is killing me,

@mapleblossom yes you have access the the campus facilities

i applied to ucsd and i have a 3.4 gpa. does anyone know how difficult to is to get into a cluster with over 90 people with it as their first choice?

If I have to choose between taking these three community college classes: differential equations, calculus d, and physics(fluid, optics, waves, thermo) vs COSMOS, what should I do?

Oh and I applied for UCI for 1. world of molecules 2. astrophysics 3. robots to rockets
Is world of molecules any good? Now I kind of wish I took robots to rockets or astrophysics as my first, is it possible to switch if i get in?

^^ It probably depends if everyone who gets in decides to go. They most likely have a waitlist, so you might be able to get on the wait list for a different program once you’re admitted.

sorry peter but i think the clusters are non-transferable

i actually applied to one of them as my third choice that was not very popular for ucsd, something about cosmos, just so i know i might at least have a chance. but who knows…? i also applied to the ucsd research scholar’s program. is anyone doing that?

COSMOS would probably be more fun, but I’ve never been there…if you really want to take the classes and earn the credits for it you should do that. I guess it really depends on what’s more important to you.

COSMOS is a really great program

yea i heard the ucsd research scholar’s program, if you get in, could really help with college apps, but who knows. i really want to go to cosmos though. about 2 weeks till we find out by email if we get in! wow that is so soon. to which campus did you guys apply?

yeah nike i cant wait! i apllied to UCSC wbu? also im sure Cosmos would look good on a college app

I have a question. On the application for COSMOS, the only extra-curricular activity I had was math club at my school (since I’m only a freshman and have not been able to consider other extra-curricular activities). How will this affect my chances of getting into the mathematics cluster? Also, my response to the statement of interest (about an experience that furthered my knowledge in math/science) was not very descriptive at all…

@ryomac from what ive heard it depends on your instructor, some of them hand read all apps and others base it on stats. so don’t worry to much if you have one good area and others arn’t as good.
