Cost Analysis

How successful is the cost analysis form for Pitt? I’m considering sending one in, but I’m anxious that it won’t get me anywhere.

It is worth a try imo.

I’ve read a few threads here where it does seem to have worked. To be an effective cost analysis it seems you need to show these things:
-COA is lower than a peer school (i.e. it doesn’t seem to be effective if comparing Pitt to an Alabama offer)
-an apples to apples comparison i.e. you can’t compare the cost of Pitt to your in-state options necessarily. Your in-state options are always going to be lower
-you can’t compare the dollar amount of the offer at other schools–you have show an overall lower bottom line. So if X school gave you a larger dollar amount it doesn’t really matter unless the amount offered at that school brings the total COA to lower than Pitt.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Do you think that full tuition at Temple would have any sway with them? Should I wait until my results for uber-reaches come out and try and use one (if it happens)?

@jjjwyatt – I have no idea! Hopefully someone else who has BTDT can chime in.

Good luck though!

Give it a shot. Nothing to lose. I’ve said before, they make it very easy to ask for reconsideration as long as you have the net lower COA from a comparable school, you should.

It looks like the worksheet asks for 2016/17 tuition and fees, room and board costs, minus all aid received, of two other schools. Says you need to send copies of your scholarship and financial aid awards from the other schools.

Well several years ago, it worked for us. It got us a 50% increase. But, have all your information - acceptance and/or scholarship offer letters from the other schools. The summary that @carachel2 provided is pretty accurate.
