How much does it cost to join/live in a frat? I have heard that it is actually cheaper than living in a dorm or an apartment + meal plan. Is this true? Can someone fill me in on any info about costs and such.

I currently pay $850 per month to live in a fraternity. This includes dues, housing, two meals per day, and parking. I think $850-$950 all-inclusive is fairly standard.

If you arent living in the house (such as during pledge semester), then I think $300 - $400 per month in live-out dues is typical.

I concur. Daughter will live in sorority next year at about those exact costs. Currently living in Cardinal Gardens with no meal plan at a cost of about $770/month including utilities.
It’s cheaper to live “on the row”. Incidentally, the two meals per day is for all house members, not just those that live in.

How many months is it? Aug-May? Having the two meals per day sounds great because then it is cheaper than getting a meal plan.

Also, could financial aid cover these costs? I have a low EFC and will be paying very little to go next year, but will I have to shell out the 850 a month out of my own pocket or would USC fin aid money go towards it?

What are the fees without housing?

yeah jets I am in the same position as you are.

I’m fairly sure that you can use financial aid money for fraternity housing just as you can for other off-campus housing. But I’m not entirely certain, so you should check with the financial aid office.

same position here jets and ruskie. are you two planning on rushing first semester?
