I am an out of state student.. i'd like to know the estimated cost of living at IUB..

First of all, I have 5000 $ scholarship.
And I will be a residence scholar meaning i get discount for room and board.

But i have a car and i will only drive on the weekends. so probably the insurance will cost around 2000per year, and 20$ for gas per month..

anyone have any idea how much i will need per year????

Also George Washington estimates that tuition + room and board = 58000. considering that I will enjoy some social life but without a car, how much you would estimate??

My acceptance packet said the estimated cost of “room and board” was between $6,578 - $7,636.
Books are between $675-790
Personal and Transportation was about $2400-3100

xepa–awesome on the books!! I didn’t know Onestart had a classified section. I’ll have to let DD know it’s a great place to find books inexpensively. She paid nearly $100 for 2 books for her W131 dual credit class.

The dorm fees can be “fudged” if you live as a residence scholar. I believe they are about 1/2.

OP–Why do you need a car? Between the campus bus and the city bus (free to IU students) you can get most places you’ll need/want to go as a freshman. Lots of free events on campus on weekends for socializing, etc.

i will need a car since i am from a froreign country and whenever i go back to my country i go to ohio where my host family lives. it’s easier for me to keep the car since i got it three years ago. :)
