Cost to accept offer of admission?

I've been accepted to UIUC but remain unsure as to if I will be attending in the fall.
I'm waiting on a few other colleges that won't get back to me until April at the latest.

I'd like to accept my offer quickly in order to get good housing (just in case, I end up going there.. which is pretty likely.)

Could anyone tell me how much the deposit is going to be?
I realize that if I choose to attend a different college after accepting UIUC I will lose that deposit money...

I just accepted and it cost me nothing.

Edit: Correct me if I’m wrong, but the only money you will put down before deciding whether you actually want to go to Illinois is for the housing deposit. This is non-refundable.

Ah, alright. Well, the housing deposit is what I should be worried about then.
How much is it?

not sure it doesnt come out until jan 15. maybe someone who did it last year knows.

we can accept the admission and then go to a different school if we wanted to?? what? its not binding?

I thought it was binding at first too, but it’s not (talked to admissions person on phone). After accepting, you can still decline later, just do it before May 1.

Unless you have been accepted Early Decison to a college and thus are prohibited from accepting elsewhere, you can accept admission to as many colleges as you want and then withdraw acceptance by May 1. In fact you can accept to a college by May 1 and then withdraw after May 1 which large numbers do who are wait-listed come May 1 by the college they really want to attend and then get admitted to that preferred college after May 1. Only risk you face is losing a deposit at many schools.
