University of Illinois and college admissions.

I have decided that I want to go to the University of Illinois the most out of the schools that I have been accepted to. However, I have been priority wait-listed at CMU and would like to go there if admitted. The issue is that I have to accept at Illinois before hearing from CMU (CMU decision date = May 6. UIL guaranteed enrollment for admitted applicants date = May 1) so I am going to accept at UIL. However, I cannot find anywhere on their site details as to what will happen if I later decline admissions to UIL. There seems to be no enrollment deposit for Illinois other than if I apply for housing (which is just $100). So is my admissions guaranteed if I just enroll by hitting the "yes" button on their site? If I later decline admissions what happens? If I apply for housing at Illinois will the repercussions be different for declining admissions?

Thank you in advance

You don’t have to apply for housing until May 15th, so you should be able to accept at UIUC by May 1 and wait to confirm housing - they are doing a random draw for housing choices after 5/15, so this should work for you. My son accepted UIUC and had no fee other than housing deposit.

Cool, thank you. But I was still wondering if anyone knows anything about possible repercussions if i later decline? I’ve heard some schools require students to pay a portion of the tuition for that year…

Colleges realize they will have some “melt” due to students being accepted off of waitlists. You won’t be charged for tuition.
